Christmas films for small children?

I'm looking for something suitable for Gdcs, 3 1/2 and 4 3/4 - apart from The Snowman/Snowman and Snowdog, which I have.
I watched Arthur Christmas the other day to check it, and although I liked it and found it funny, I thought they're still too young.
Grateful for any suggestions.

Hi, do you have Netflix or Amazon Prime?
If Netflix, DD of almost 3 was transfixed by Angela's Christmas the other day. It's the story of the Angela in the book Angela's Ashes as a little girl at Christmas and really lovely. It's only about half an hour long though so not sure it can be classed a film but we both loved it (warning: I might have cried a little bit too, but I am pregnant and hormonal).
If Amazon Prime, she also enjoyed The Snowy Day. It's very heartwarming, with a lovely message about sharing and friendship.
(this one's warning is that you will probably want to eat macaroni cheese immediately after viewing!).

Weirdly, she was terrified by The Snowman when I put that on!

Tom and Jerry: A Nutcracker Tale - is lovely. Bonus if you need a dvd to watch in the car - this is based on the music of the Nutcracker Tale and there's very little speaking in it - most of it is just tom and jerry antics that show the story of the nutcracker - which means that if you have it on as a dvd in the car on a long journey, it's mostly music behind you that they are watching so you and dh get to talk easily over music rather than having a loud annoying dialogue going on behind you! DS2 in particular used to like it on the tv when he was playing in the lounge because he could play, there was nice music on and it's not something you have to sit and watch intensely - you can drop in and out of it and just enjoy the tom and jerry-ness of it. Last year he was 10 and around christmas he still dug the dvd out to have on while he was doing stuff. His big brother teased him - but I noticed that he stayed to watch chunks of it Grin

It's usually for sale for about £3 (was in my local sainsburys last week anyway!)

Poundland has lots of christmas dvds in (new and recycled) - both a pound each, while bluerays are £2 each. Lots of kids ones, many that aren't big hits but that if they hit upon something that your dc like (xmas and puppies, xmas and dinosaurs, xmas and unicorns etc) they may well really enjoy even if they are not what grown ups think of as great films.

Home alone would probably make them laugh, especially the eldest one.

Things ike the muppet christmas carol would also be good.

Any favourite tv shows they have - finding christmas specials often works well - mickey mouse and curious george were hits for my dc - maybe these days there is a paw patrol or pj masks equivalent?

Robbie the Reindeer. It’s a Wallace and Gromit style animation, lots of famous voices Smile on YouTube

The Polar Express (or 'Snowy Train' as it was known in our house)?

imamearcat · 28/11/2019 11:05

Snowy Day on Amazon Prime is absolutely lovely and really captivated my 3 & 4 year olds.

Aworldofmyown · 28/11/2019 12:20

Mickys Twice Upon a Christmas - I have been watching it every year for about ten years now!!!

NellyTimes · 28/11/2019 12:21

If they like the Snowman then they might like Raymond Briggs' Father Christmas as well. Also look out for Christmas specials of their favourite programmes or the Cbeebies pantomimes, mine loved those when they were that age. Also the Muppets Christmas Carol is fantastic for any age (41 especially 😃)

boobot1 · 28/11/2019 17:59

Disney did a lovely one called the small one, hard to find but worth it.

frenchknitting · 28/11/2019 22:25

I was going to say Arthur Christmas. At that age, they definitely liked that more than polar express. Though, maybe not as much as I did.

Cherryrainbow · 28/11/2019 22:49

My son loves Rise of the guardians.
CBeebies pantos are a good shout too.

Redyoyo · 28/11/2019 23:41

Santa pups my dd must have watched this every week from aged 3 to 5!

Redyoyo · 28/11/2019 23:43

Sorry its Santa Paws dd calls it Santa pups.

1stMrsF · 29/11/2019 00:26

We got Arthur Christmas at that age and they loved it.

Prep and Landing?

Stompythedinosaur · 29/11/2019 21:44

My dc became hysterical at Santa Paws one memorable christmas eve (the scene where the dog is moving towards the fire on a conveyer belt was too much for them).

We like The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (the original cartoon one rather than the Jim Carey one). Also Barbie The Nutcracker isn't as bad as you'd imagine.

We like The CBeebies pantos too - the Christmas Carol one is out favourite.
