Looking for something nice and easy to make. Just for dp, 2 dc are 8 and 6 and myself.

In previous years we have tried to do a buffet of prepare bits, but they haven't been very nice in the past couple of years.

Takeaway is not an option as we are too rural.

Another complicating factor is that I am vegetarian and dp has a very restricted diet due to Crohns Disease which means he cannot eat sugar or food with high fibre (I.e. most vegetables). But I am relatively happy to make 2 meals (like we do for every meal).

Any thoughts?

Sausagea, mash and onion gravy here. Always.

Oh ChilliMum do you have a recipe for the veggie tartiflette? Sounds amazing.

I usually do toad in the hole, fish pie, chorizo or sausage stew, lasagne - basically something that can be prepped ahead and heated up or shoved in the oven. Struggling for ideas this year as we now have two veggies and two fussy small children and I don't want to make multiple meals!

DH and I are having a baked Camembert with crusty bread. Going to get a pizza for dc and let them have a picnic blanket in the lounge with a Christmas film for a treat.

We do pizza picnic on blankets on the living room floor as the table is set by then, usually watch a Christmas film too.

How about 'sod the cooking and have your body weight in Quality Street'?

A big side of salmon - easier and more impressive than fish pie!

Last year we did pulled pork baps - cooked the pork in the slow cooker all day. Maybe something like a slow cooked meat with some easy sides would work?

hoolihan I used this one from the guardian last time but just didn't add the lardons and it was probably the best one I have made. I did the full recipe with lardons for the kids and they loved it.

We have pickie bits.

Some ideas;
Jacket potatoes with prawn salad
Fajitas
Ham,egg n chips
Stir fry

we go out for a very nice lunch with some bubbles etc.
Then we cook the ham on Christmas Eve night and once it is out of the oven we have slices of ham with crusty loaf, pickles and mustard, wine / beer - it's a tradition from my childhood and we all love it.
We have cake / mince pies / chocolates on the go too.
