Homemade gift from 5yo

My in laws have decided to do secret Santa for adults this year. However, we are the only ones with kids, so it feels a bit off that they are always all so generous with our DC, and we won't be reciprocating.

So I'd like to get them all something from the kids in addition. It needs to be "token" enough that it doesn't piss all over MILs very carefully constructed secret Santa rules, but take enough effort that it shows appreciation.

My initial idea was to make tree decorations for everyone, but we won't see them til boxing day. Also, not sure either PIL or BIL will bother with a tree.

I am not good at baking. We do like crafts. I'd like my 5yo to be involved, as I want to show him that Xmas is about giving, etc.

So far, my best idea is to fill a clear bauble with lindor chocs, and decorate a bit.

Any better ideas, please?

I think the tree decoration is great even on Boxing day! Other crafty things - decorate a:
Picture frame
Mug
Plant pot

A Christmas photo, you can get blank frames they can decorate.

Nice Christmas card -

Like the bauble idea

Thanks! Quite like the mug idea, the little one could throw paint at a mug too.

Glass paint on a glass or jam jar and add a candle. If you want a more polished look put strips of masking tape on first to make a diamond pattern or similar and then let dc loose with paint. Pull off tape when it’s dry.

As a general tip: choose two colours that combine into a nice third colour (eg blue and yellow or red and yellow but not red and green which makes an unattractive brown).

If you want a more consumable gift, you can get candle paint and paint directly onto candles.

You can buy little calendars in craft shops and add them to a piece of artwork mounted on card. I’m this is a great way of shifting some artwork. Artwork also makes excellent wrapping paper!

Get long socks and knot one end tightly and cut. Let child spoon uncooked rice and some essential oils in and tightly knot and cut the top. Easy microwaveable heat pads.

My kids always do a homemade crafts for family members. So far we've done:

-Christmas ornaments - wooden and cardboard ones from craft store dipped in glitter or painted

-garden stepping stones (craft kit)

-Mason jar Christmas potpourri (Pinterest)

-picture frames with their pics inside

-melting chocolate/candy in molds - this ones fantastically easy

This year we are doing jam jars with Santa hats filled chocolate pretzels. I do love Pinterest Grins

We have previously done canvas shopping bags decorated with fabric paints/ pens or sharpies.
Bought the bags in a pack of 10 off Amazon

What about plants? Bulbs in containers, pothos cuttings rooted and planted or even supermarket herbs potted up
