Christmas side dishes

Just wondering what other side dishes everyone has with their Christmas dinner.

I’m making my first Christmas dinner this year and we will have all the usual sides like roast potatoes, vegetables etc. Although I will be doing Yorkshire puddings (with turkey - gasp) and a dish called ambrosia that H had every year when we had Christmas with his parents.

Is anyone having any different sides or anything unusual?

I usually do sprouts with chestnuts and Parmesan butter, maple roast parsnips, spiced red cabbage (delia’s recipe), a gratin of some sort - this years will be celeriac, and then some steamed veg like broccoli and green beans. Just fancier roast sides really!

watching with interest. I will have some basic veg as there are fussy children coming but I want some interesting stuff too. thinking of some kind of combo of shredded sprouts and savoy cabbage, maybe stir-fried, as my sister will moan if there are no sprouts but they are ville on their own.

Carrots, sprouts Halloween Envy maple roast parsnips, pigs in blankets, stuffing. Keeping things fairly simple as I’ve only got a small oven.

Roast potatoes, roast parsnips, roast carrots, sprouts, red cabbage.

Plus pigs in blankets and 2 sorts stuffing. Generally apple and prune in the bird, and sausagemeat/chestnut/dried fruit outside.

Plus cranberry sauce and bread sauce.

Sometimes I do caramelised potatoes but then other times I feel there is so much on the plate already I forget! Have sometimes forgotten the stuffing as well and left it in the fridge or the bird -oops.

-Roast potatoes
-Carrots, peas, sweetcorn
-Pigs in blankets
-Stuffing balls
-Sprouts - plain, steamed, no messing around
-Red cabbage (which no one will eat)
-Cauliflower cheese (a tradition from the days the Turkey was so dry it needed to be rehydrated)
-Bread sauce and gravy
-Yorkshire puddings
