Shampoo and conditioner bar recommendations for teen swimming 5x per week

updadubs2013 · 21/11/2019 15:00

I know there were a few recommendations for shampoo bars on the main thread, can't find it now tho. My dd is wanting to be as ethical as possible. She swims 5-6 times a week. Is there any option that would work for keeping in her swim bag? Any ideas gratefully received

If u tell an assistant in lush about what kind of bar you're looking for they're really good at picking ones to suit your hair needs x

Oh should've said I can't do real life shopping because of remoteness of where I live...will try tiaratreasure, thanks.

Anyone know if they come in any kind of container that would survive being in a swim bag? Or any ideas on how to sort this?

Soul and Soap do lovely watermelon ones that come in a tin, so you can store them easily on the go. My hair feels the same after using the shampoo bar as using liquid shampoo, no waxy residue. They also sell conditioner bars but I haven't tried them yet--still using up liquid conditioner.

Keeping an eye on this thread as Dd is in a swim squad too. Some of the swim shops online sell body moisturiser to combat the drying affect of chlorine too but I can't remember which one.

I've tried and tried with them but for swimming conditioning is so important I've not found anything.

Ive found shampoo bars to be one thing, but never found a good solid conditioner. In some eco shops you can get conditioner refills though. Might that be an option?
Also bed head conditioners by tigi are so super concentrated that you hardly have to use any, even watered down

I use a shampoo bar from the Yorkshire soap company which I love. I prefer theirs to Lush. They deliver for £6.95 I think. I've always waited to go to an actual shop to stock up so never used the delivery option myself. If you're ever in Yorkshire they're so worth a visit! I love all their stuff. They have a few different shampoo ones. I use a yellow one. Think it's called salty beach. I've never found a solid conditioner good enough for regular use. Not for after swimming anyway.

OOh there's one that's called Beauty Kubes that you crumble , it will do one wash (hair+ body) she could take one in a small sealable tub.

I read a tip on here that recommended keeping your conditioner bar in a tin/tupperware with a drop of water. That means it's soft and ready to use, rather than trying to soften it up ready for use when you're already mid-hair-wash.

Had typed a reply but who knows where its disappeared to!

Great suggestions, I want to try them all. That's interesting about leaving water in tub with conditioner bar, we could maybe try at home first before relying on it for the pool
