Hello all!
I have already asked this but can’t find the thread when I’ve searched through the Christmas bargains threads, so thought I’d start a topic just for them.
Anyway, mum is after binoculars for Xmas. Around £20, she lives in a flat and just wants them for watching the kestrels/falcons that nest in buildings near by.
I’ve tried some from amazon, bfull, but they were awful so I sent them back.
I’m also unsure which number to go for, 10x25 etc.
Thanks all!

Tbh you wont find a decent pair of binos for £20, not in my experience anyway. My first pair were from the rspb and cost about £70 I think and weren't bad for just basic stuff. Smile

She won’t be taking them out ever, I’ve offered to buy her a more expensive pair but she’s insisted no to just buy cheap as they aren’t going to be used much.

I think you need to spend more. I understand what she is saying, but I don’t think £20 will get some that do what she wants

Try Cadet Kit Shop or Cadet Direct. I got a good pair from there for DS when he was in cadets, I don't think they were very expensive but they are sharp and good quality.

Thank you for your help! I’ll check out those websites Smile the pair I bought from amazon were awful despite the good reviews, I followed the instructions correctly to set them up but everything was double vision Confused

Sorry to post again :( I really haven’t a clue what numbers I should be looking for please so any recommendation would be great! I’ve looked online but am getting confused with it and have no idea what to go for. Thank you :)

The numbers are the magnification and field of view. The higher the first number the greater the magnification, but the harder it is to hold them steady. Unless staring across an estuary 8 times mag is plenty, so something like 8 X 32 would be easy to hold and use.

I would second the rspb ones as great for the price.
