So I'm in a fairly new relationship I want to get him something really nice for xmas but I'm not sure what Hmm

I'm thinking maybe a weekend break away or theatre tickets or something along those lines but I also would like to get something for him to keep.

Is there any nice jewellery for men that's not too expensive maybe links of London or something?

OP posts:

Nice pants? Hugo Boss are quite good for a little set in decent colours. About £40 for 3.

Creed aventus, or Tom ford Oud wood are both higher end of mid range fragrances which are superb.

Sorry, OP, but I think those ideas sound a bit cliche.

What does he like to do? What interests does he have? Do you have things you enjoy doing together? Is he up for a laugh?

Why not get him a few different things? A Christmas jumper or pants? A game you can play together? A gingerbread house to assemble together? A bottle of semi-expensive booze? A couple of books in the genre he likes? Tickets to a random event which might be a giggle (last year I got DP tickets to a poetry reading night - it was hilariously terrible)?

To answer you question, I'm getting DP the following (but we've been together 15 years so not sure it's useful for you):

  • Tool box because all our shit is currently in a lunchbox. DP does no DIY so it's a bit of a joke
  • Posters for his shit, boring, white-wall office at work
  • A game to memorise all the British Kings and Queens from 1066 onwards
  • A couple of books by his favourite author
  • An expensive bottle of booze
  • A T-shirt with our dog's face on it
  • A mug with our dog's face on it
  • A jumper
  • A new pair of boots because his squeak when he walks and I'm close to doing a murder
  • Loads of food from markets or whatever
  • Antique napkin rings (we need these, I've seen some I like, I'll just wrap them up Grin)

A vintage Levi jacket. It goes with the other 25 coats and jackets he owns that I frequently swear at as they all avalanche of the coat rack bannister into my face. He is obsessed with jackets, he frequently wears a duffle coat in the middle of August.
He also wants the new Philip Pullman book and I'll buy him some chocolate as well.

They are cliché ideas indeed. Because the relationship is new and she can't predict what he would really like at this stage.

Those are both things I would get as nice, but safe options. They are not what I'll be getting DH for Christmas, because I know in detail what DH will like.

Courtney555 · 12/11/2019 13:06

Jumper is a safe bet too.

FiercyMacFierceFace · 12/11/2019 13:12

My DH has asked for some clothes/ trainers. But for surprise extras:
Nice gin
Hotel Chocolat Truffles
Travel size Clinique toiletries
Ian Rankin book

Whiskeylover45 · 12/11/2019 13:16

Hes asked for the imagine dragons album, any; though newest is preferable. I also have a sword put away that I'm waiting for an acrylic wall mounted case to arrive so I'll just put them in and wrap that up. A few marvel and DC dvds from DS and DSD for him. A tool box sounds good from PP as all of ours are shoved in a cupboard under the sink, and it looks beyond messy. Though like PP he barely does DIY, unless it's to prove his manly manness which includes the following: studying the problem at great length, stroaking his beard, making appropriate humming noises. Touches it a few times, before declaring that we'll probably need an expert. By which time I have already called, sourced and booked one 😤 however I do love him, so will keep him for the foreseeable future and re-evaluate at the start of the next financial year 🤣

I'm getting DH a weekend away- I've booked tickets to a show he's been wanting to see, booked a nice hotel, organised a babysitter. I don't care if it's a "cliché", he has more than enough 'stuff' and with a sleepless 1yo and a 5yo at home I know he'll definitely appreciate the child-free time! Grin

My bloke is getting:
3 v casual shirts (he’s a bit of an old
hippy)
Cookery book (which is partly for me)
Board game (again, partly for me)
Allotment book
Travel journal
Some of those comedy Ladybird books for adults, which I picked up in a charity shop second hand - that’s just a little bonus gift.
