Eco toiletries and bits for stockings

Hi we recently became a fully meat free household and I would like suggestions for your best eco toiletries, etc for stockings. I've looked at a few deodorants and toothbrushes, but don't know which are good or bad. I have found a nice supplier of shampoo bars that I have been using for about 6 months.

What other things can I put in stockings for DDs who are 17 and 12 and really trying hard to avoid plastic, beyond notebooks and reusable mugs (which they have). Thanks for any suggestions.

I've bought things a few times from this website ekoearth.co.uk/

Bamboo toothbrushes, wooden cotton buds, re-useable make up remover pads and sanitary pads. Also cute lunch boxes & wraps. I bought some beautiful re-useable kitchen towel which is basically little flannels clipped together with poppers.

I bought some stuff from a website called www.brandzero.shop because they sell same stuff as lush but much cheaper

I'd had recommendations for Ben and Ann deodorant. Just ordered my first 3 from Planet organic. Natura Siberia do lovely stuff at very good prices. Their handcreams are the best but I'd recommend anything from them. I order regularly.

Eco make up brushes, Eco friendly mini hairbrush, bamboo compact mirror, reusable metal straws.

Last year I looked for a second book for each teen's stocking.

And a voucher with a code that allowed them to virtually plant a tree in the forest of their choice.

Organic fair trade chocolate.

I second the reusable makeup remover pads! I love mine. I also bought a lovely retro safety razor so I could stop buying plastic ones to shave my legs, might be good for your 17yo - have a look on Amazon. Resuable sanitary towels, although I appreciate they might not be for everyone! I bought a 'starter kit' from Cheeky Wipes and the material has llamas all over it - really cute. I've bought a set for my friend for Christmas. Toiletries wise, perfume bars, I use Salt of the Earth deodorant - the roll on and the salt stick are both good. Butter nail varnish is good and has none of the nasties in it. I use Naturissimo for a lot of beauty products.

Thank you for the suggestions, I'll have a look at the different sites. And yes, chocolate is always a good idea Grin

That should have read second hand book.
The teens in question owned more than one book Grin.

The beauty kitchen products. Gorgeous and loads of environmental details on the website

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 11/11/2019 15:25

Have a look at Holland and Barratt as they always have offers on.

A month or so ago I bought this zero waste starter kit for DD who is trying to reduce her use of plastics . Unfortunately it's out of stock online at the moment though

moreismore · 11/11/2019 15:35

The cheeky wipes make up remover pads are really good

MamaWeasel · 11/11/2019 15:58

Seed bombs?

Qwertyguerty · 11/11/2019 15:59

I get things from boobalou and babipur. Best two places for that sort of thing. Enjoy!

Filmbuffmum · 11/11/2019 16:08

Some of the new stuff from Oxfam shops is lovely, e.g www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/sourced-by-oxfam/home-and-gift/kitchen/bamboo-lunch-box-blue-tiles-hn503078 and they also do really good chocolate (plus you might find some good second hand books at the same time).

hobbler · 11/11/2019 17:02

Bamboo socks and/or scarf?

Lots of ideas on andkeep.com/

Disfordarkchocolate · 11/11/2019 17:04

Off to order some reusable makeup remover pads. Never even thought of that.

There's lots of nice things on these pages and I'll be making a list so thanks again.

filmbuff I've seen a couple of people with that type of lunch box but didn't know where they were from, they're really nice.

Try The Ordinary products. Vegan, inexpensive, work great and glass/cardboard packaging. Site is called something like Deciem.

Reusable straws, seed bombs, reusable totes...

Where do you get your shampoo bars from?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/11/2019 09:54

Holland&Barrett do some bars (there's a box of mini ones to try out too)
I got one for my DD (not used it yet so no idea how it fares)
DD doesn't like coconut ( there is coconut in just about everything ) and I don't like lavender (and they sneak that in everywhere too) !
