Which Play Doh set for a 2 year old?

DD loves Play Doh but most of ours is getting a bit past it now so I was going to suggest Play Doh as a possible gift for grandparents to buy. I'd just be happy with a few new pots but I'm pretty sure my lovely MiL (yes, really!!) would prefer to buy a set of some description.
I've just had a look online and there seem to be so many. Can anyone suggest a good set for a 2.7 year old? Thanks

At that age, I'd just say some pots with a roller and cutters.

We have the barbershop, an octopus one that grows tentacles and a dinosaur one that doesn't really do a lot. They all still need a bit of a adult help to set them up and of course tidy away! The barber shop is a PITA because I can never get all of the playdoh out of the heads and then next time I use it lots of dried up little balls of it go flying everywhere.

I've always mostly just had lots of cutters and crafty bits (silicone cake cases are good). Have had fun with the fun factory but not loads. However, I bought a £6 burger set over half term and the kids have played and played and played with it (age nearly 3 and 6). It has been a revelation, I definitely think food themed ones have a lot more play value now.

So I was going to buy the big ice cream maker set on offer last week for Christmas, but I read a lot of reviews and watched some YouTube videos and it really doesn't look well made at all sadly and children can't do it on their own. I've looked at a few other big sets and they all seem to have flaws except the spinning treats kitchen mixer maker which looks good on videos and reviews. I also think a Kitchen creations ultimate chef set or the grocery set would have a lot of play value.

The burger set was from Asda by the way, not the Barbecue set I've seen elsewhere. Asda always seem to be the cheapest for multipacks of pots and often have sets on offer so might be worth looking there.

Wavy the whale! It’s the easiest for that age to use, they can push it down themselves to make doh come out the spout! My son still plays with it at 3.5

DS was bought a sandwich making set for his birthday which is quite good.

DS1 loves the dentist set (you make the teeth and pull them out) and also the oven set.

I agree that food based ones go down well. My 3yo DD has a baking and an ice cream set and she plays with the both a lot. I don’t think either are made by the Playdoh brand (it’s not the fancy ice cream factory!). The sets are basically just pots of playdoh, various plastic tools like rolling pins/ knives/ scoops/ cookie cutters and a few other bits like plastic ones/ cupcakes cases and decorations like plastic cherries and wafers. Pretty cheap uncomplicated sets but they get a lot of play.

To be honest at that age I wouldn’t worry about getting a big expensive set as most of them are quite tricky and would just go for some simple tools (rolling pins, cookie cutters etc) and lots and lots of pots of playdoh because they will quickly all turn to brown.

I bought a Toy Story box of PlayDoh a while ago from Debenhams, it had 24 tubs and it was on offer for about £10.

Argos do a lot of the actual sets, my niece has the pizza oven and a microwave one as well.

I recently got a set from Tesco for about £15 called 'Create n Canister' it comes with various different pots of play doh, cutters, food set etc. My son loves it, and it wasn't too pricey! Plus it comes in a giant play doh canister so it can all neatly be put away.

The hairdresser set was very popular in our house.

The fire station set is a big hit with my DD.

My DD likes the foody ones too. Toaster creations and the doughnut maker ones are her favourites, and not too expensive. She also likes the magical oven, but I don’t think a two year old would be able to operate it by themself.

I managed to find a nice set in my local ASDA recently, it was the toaster Kitchen Creations set and it was only £6. Smile I've put it aside for my two-and-a-half year old nephew.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
