Presents for babies

DC3 will be 3 months old at Christmas and I have no idea what to suggest to family when they ask for gift ideas.

At 3 months he won't need anything much but that won't wash with our families. Neither will the suggestion that they put money into his bank account etc.

As he has (much) older siblings and we'd got rid of all our baby stuff, his stocking and santa presents etc are mostly made up of practical things he'll need in the year ahead. (Weaning stuff, swimming nappies etc.) He is also getting a baby wetsuit/warmer thingy and a happy nappy for swimming too.

His birthday is in September so there is a big stretch where he will be changing and developing lots. What did your babies like at that stage?
We have things like stacking cups and a shape sorter and the budgets of the gift givers range from around £5 to £50. I'd rather not have a lot of giant plastic things around the house if possible.

Thanks very much.

Oh and we don't have a bath, we do have a baby one but bigger bath toys probably aren't practical.

I'm due to have our first this month, family are already asking what to get him. I've suggested books. We can read to him when he's little and when he's older he can read them himself, also they don't take up too much room.

Clothes, even better if they will buy in April ready for summer!

Luckily my relatives are pretty good so I ask for clothes, money and books and generally they listen.

DS loved this teether toy from really young because any part he grabbed at he could hold and any part he put in his mouth he could chew.

He also loved this walker; but just sitting in front of it playing with the little bits and bobs for the first few months we had it.

Played a lot with soft blocks, stacking cups and read books. Or baby gym or mobile if you don't yet have.

Maybe a wheely bug to grow into? Good grandparent big gift & not plastic. Or a grimms rainbow?

It's not cheap, but something I'm planning to get for a new Gdd due in January is a sheepskin - special one for babies, washable, - for either floor or cot/pram. Dd has wooden floors so nice and cosy to lie on.
It's on the Celtic Sheepskin website, under 'babies'.

Don’t know how crafty you/family are - I bought a blanket box from Argos (£40) for both of mine’s first Christmas, painted it white and glued painted wooden letters (Hobbycraft) spelling their name onto the front. It looks quite good and gives me somewhere to store all the toys.
