I'm stuck for ideas this year. I always get my parents a wee thing from my son but can't think of anything. My son is 7 if that makes any difference

I get the Inlaws the same thing every year. A photo calendar. I usually pick pictures of them with dd.
And a box of their favourite chocolate.

Get him to help make something? Shortbread, toffee cake, fudges (loads of fancy recipes online), marzipan fruits, pfefferknuessen

One of my sisters used to give the annual school photo in a fancy frame (I think that may have been an extra though)

We did fall back on the shower gel / body lotion a few times, but to be fair it was on granny's wishlist!

Tree decorations, Eg sewn stocking filled with chocolates, decoupaged baubles, salt dough - baker Ross is good for ideas. Lots of food things Eg mince pies, fudge, choc truffles, shortbread stars piled up to make Christmas trees, gingerbread, hand decorated baskets filled with bought boiled sweets, decoupaged boxes, snow globe with child's drawing inside.

I bought a set of Christmas themed cutters and a set of many different sized stars a few years back, and they feature quite heavily!!

Try not on the high street for Grandparent themed gifts. Lovely custom pictures and the likes

Or a pic of the kids in a nice frame

Usually something small, photo, chocolates etc. This year tree decoration

Mostly we bake or make something. One year we made little book decorations for the Christmas tree which the dc filled with a description and drawings of Granny and Nana. They went down very well. Another year we did sweetie trees with cocktail sticks, polystyrene ball and their favourite sweets. They made Christmas village houses out of cardboard boxes and filled them with home made biscuits. Beeswax sheets rolled into candles are very easy too.

Things that have gone down well with grandparents or godparents for us over the years;
Home made cheese biscuits (Nigella's cheesy feet recipe in start shapes) in a personalised mug.
Framed kids artwork
Photos in a magnetic frame to place on the fridge
Personalised with a photo glass cleaning cloth, mug, notebook etc
Something ecological or sustainable as this is important to the DCs e.g. beeswax wraps, bags for life, water bottles
Gift from school e.g one of those spilling bags with drawings of all the children on it
Something edible e.g. lovely tea, coffee, chocolates, biscuits etc

I'm a granny and really love the photo type gifts. The best one I had was a tin with a beautiful pic of DGD on it. My daughter had filled it with shotbread rounds but I now use it to keep my sewing kit in. It makes me smile every time I see it.

PIL love little snacks and dips so last year we got them a jar of m&s salted caramel sauce and things like sugar waffles to dip in it. Went down a treat.

Other things we have got them on behalf of DC have been books, scented candle, nice scarf and a fridge magnet of a photo of them with DC.

We always give grandparents a photo calendar with photos from the equivalent month, and anything that school/nursery have been selling to help raise funds T-towels, mugs etc.
