Project style gifts for Dad

My dad is severely disabled and house bound so looking for a gift that would occupy his time a bit. He spends most of the day online or watching Netflix as he can't get out much.

Looking for a project type gift or something that would keep busy at home?

He's not into jigsaws or puzzle books.

Any suggestions??

TIA

I know you say he isn't into jigsaws but have you seen 'wasgij' they are jigsaw puzzles but you don't make the picture on the box- you might have to have a look to see what I mean! They are really good fun and challenging. Loads of different types to suit his interests

Or would he like a lego set to build, I know they are expensive so maybe out of budget for a big one but worth a look. We got fil one after an accident left him disabled and he enjoyed building it

Might not be appropriate if his disability restricts hand movement for fiddly things or eyesight, but what about a model-building kit?

If he has a particular interest in architecture/classic cars/space/planes etc., there are some really excellent ones nowadays.

Very much suitable for an 'older gent', not like the ones my 12 yr old brother spent hours on when we were kids!

And your Dad would get a sense of accomplishment, and a talking point for visitors, as it progresses.

Examples:

boats

steam trains

planes

buildings

Not so much a 'project' (and again depending on what his disability restricts), but might he like a clear window-mounted bird feeder to watch?

RSPB one here

Or a hi-tech
cctv camera nesting box
so he can watch on TV?

What’s your budget?

neverornow · 07/11/2019 20:44

Budget is £50

A solitaire board. As long as you don't give him the solution!

If he cooks for himself, a subscription to one of those cookery clubs where you get sent the ingredients and a recipe every month.

My parents love their bird table/bird bath and bird house, which they can see from their window.
