Hi all,

Hoping this is the right place to post this.

My DS will be 16 months at Christmas and we always had the tradition of Xmas eve pjs but last year did a Xmas eve box for his first Xmas and it's something I want to keep up the tradition.

In his box I have so far Xmas eve pjs (matching to me and his dad), "that's not my reindeer" book, little soft toy he took a bit of a shine too so went back and picked it up, reindeer dust and we have a plate set for cookies etc (going to make the cookies with him on Xmas eve to putout for Santa).. can you think of anything else I can put in there that I haven't already thought of?

Things like hot chocolate etc he doesn't have so nothing like that.. we would usually watch a Xmas film before bed with Buck's Fizz and cookies baked earlier that day ...

Thank you for any suggestions.. Smile

I think that sounds like plenty for 16m, next year you can add more as he'll be able to get more involved. Only other thing I do is Christmas socks for everyone.

My son will be 22 months and in his he will have a similar one to yours with pyjamas, book, reindeer food, Santa plate plus a magic key. I’ve also bought him a Christmas melamine plate, bowl and cup from Matalan for him to use during December and for the next few Christmasses. Maybe something like that? I bought a personalised letter from Santa from eBay as well. 😊. I don’t want to put too much in it as he will have stocking stuff the next day and —don’t want my house filled with shit— him to be overwhelmed.

Strike through fail 🤦🏻‍♀️

So true though vodka

I like the Christmas plate set idea.

We barely put anything in ours:

Stockings
Sacks
Christmas book
Santa plate
Pyjamas

Potentially Snowman and Snowdog DVD, but they may have had that on a loop all afternoon! Xmas Grin

Sounds lovely, just be careful that the reindeer dust doesn’t contain glitter as that’s very harmful to wildlife. We just put out a carrot.

My advice is keep it simple for the Christmas Eve box! We started the tradition when my DC1 was tiny and now I have three DC and it is just another big expense at Christmas! The kids love it though. They have one box between them...they all get new pjs or a onesie, a hot chocolate spoon each, reindeer food and a Christmas film to watch in the evening. We do it as a ‘Thank you for having me’ gift from our elf who leaves on Christmas Eve morning. Some people put a new book in for each of the DC, a board game, more chocolate, popcorn for the film, slipper socks etc etc. I’m quite glad I go small as that would be hugely expensive for us now with three DC on top of stockings and everything else.

Simplicity is the key I would say.

He's very young so try to see it more as a tradition to build upon as he grows every year; PJs/Santa plate/Festive snacks/Christmas story and maybe a little colouring book or small toy car.

I think that sounds like a lovely selection and plenty for a 1 year old.

Check that the "reindeer dust" doesn't contain glitter as it can be harmful to wildlife if they eat it. Just sprinkle oats or seed if you want to sprinkle something.
