Looking some nice, reasonably priced dinner plates and bowls. Also some nice serving bowls for nibbles. Nice but reasonably priced

I just came on to say I’d recommend buying a very simple design

I have white china with a gold edge. They were given a massive set from my great aunt that included serving dishes etc.

They look lovely and festive on a red checked table cloth for Christmas. But they also look classy against navy for celebration dinners or fresh and smart against a green cloth for Easter. Or just against a big wood dining table.

I have plain red and plain white plates. Bought a 16 piece tartan set to mix in!! Looks great imo!!

And buy more settings than you think you need. One year you are bound to have extra guests and you also have a bit of lee way for breakage.

HomeSense (the household part of TKMaxx) have gorgeous Christmas crockery .

I've bought Portmerion and Spode there ( the iconic Spode Christmas Tree and Portmerion Holly&Ivy) not a whole set but a few plates.

I bought a white with gold speckles large plate from Sainsbury

Glass multi sectioned tray (HomeSense) for crisps or nuts.

Last year they had some really lovely fir/fir cone patterned , not overly Christmassey that you couldn't use it any time in winter

I had a BHS Cuntry Vine (ivy pattern) dinner set but it was only used at Christmas and IIRC I had enough for six plus oval plte , covered tureen, large bowl plus teapot/jug/sugar bowl/mugs .
I ended up taken it to the Charity Shop because it took up too much cupboard space for the amount of time I used it .

Best option for me is plain white (my every day crockery ) I have large oval and standard round plates .
I use chunky glass tumblers for puddings ( they are heat proof)

Home Sense also had some beautiful tablecloths last year

Thank you!
I add a few new pieces every Christmas.

It's my present to me.

Dunelm Mill and Asda both have some Christmas inspired crockery.

Thank you everyone. Venturing out this morning now all the kids are back at school so will have a look in places recommended. I normally use my mums plates from years ago, not christmassy tho but want some nice ones of our own
