Mum's of 2 yo DS - what's on your shopping list for Xmas?

I'm terrible for buying absolute junk

Big, small, outdoor and indoor suggestions all welcome as he's a January baby so will be toy shopping again in Jan

Toy kitchen!

WilmaJean · 02/11/2019 21:35

An easel from Ikea Smile

ValiaH · 02/11/2019 21:44

My son is 2.5 years, and he is having- Hape Grand City train station from Smyths, Orchard toys giant road puzzle and expansion with junctions, other wooden train accessories, metal trackmaster push along thomas trains, a cuddly pegasus, playmobil summer jet (supposedly from age 4 but he will grow into it), schleich dinosaurs and colouring pencils/ paints. He might also get some Haba Kullerbu additions for his ball run- he had this set yesbebe.co.uk/haba/13656-haba-kullerbu-theme-set-jump-into-the-car/ for his 2nd birthday and he still loves it so want to add to it now. Can you tell he is vehicle mad?

Hophop26 · 02/11/2019 21:47

I have girls (2 and 3) - puzzles and crafty bits, colouring etc. Orchard Toys games are also a big hit here. Watch was also a hit with our 3 year old recently. Does he have a scooter? Mini micro scooters are loved here

HashtagKnackered · 02/11/2019 22:12

Wooden kitchen from Aldi !

Equimum · 02/11/2019 22:45

Mine are older now, but presents at 3 included:
Wooden toy kitchen
Wooden trainset
Mini Micro scooters

My eldest is nearly 7, and the kitchen & trainset are both still in the playroom, now enjoyed by younger brother.

Proudpeacock · 02/11/2019 22:46

My DS had a wooden toy kitchen. He will be 4 this month and it is still popular.

sohypnotic · 03/11/2019 18:31

My daughter just had her 2nd birthday. Wooden kitchen a big hit, as was the child trampoline - a great way to burn off some energy when the weather is crap! The Galt first sticker pictures and Bizzy Bear books have also been played with a lot for a quieter activity.

neverornow · 03/11/2019 18:47

Thanks ladies

Toy/wooden kitchens seem to be a popular choice 👍🏻

Mini micro scooter and a giant stuffed dinosaur - its 5 foot Shock

Shitfuckoh · 03/11/2019 19:06

My 2 year old is a massive fan of teletubbies - so he's got a couple of the playsets to go with the figures he got for his birthday. His 'main' will be a toot toot garage with lots of vehicles.
He's also got some happyland & duplo sets.
He's the youngest of 3 boys and we already have kitchens, wooden blocks, trains, scooters/bikes etc so it's been difficult & feels like he's just got plastic apart from a couple of gifts Sad

MrTumblePulledAKnifeOnMe · 03/11/2019 19:14

2.5 year old DS will be getting some form of hot wheels track set. He is obsessed with launching cars down slides, ramps and anything else he can fashion out bits of other toys 😆

Fabuleuse · 03/11/2019 19:31

DS2 just turned 2. He has inherited a lot of toys from his brother - kitchen, scooter, balance bike, etc. He's getting a Duplo house, Leapfrog ice cream cart and the Orchard Toys Post Office game. Will also get some little bits and bobs for his stocking and some books. We have a generous family and loads of toys already so I wanted to keep it reasonably minimal.

RobinsNest17 · 03/11/2019 19:42

Pyjamas, Thomas books, novelty light up bauble and spinny wand, and a balance bike. Relatives are buying megabloks and toy toolset.

His birthday is only 10 days before Xmas and he's getting a car garage, Peter Rabbit books, bath toy and slippers then.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 03/11/2019 20:42

A paw patrol scooter, Thomas train set and a few other little bits. I'm not going mad as I find once he opens one present he just wants to play with it and gets overwhelmed. I really wish we had space for one of the Ikea kitchens but we don't. I'm thinking of getting one of the Aldi mud kitchens in the summer as a compromise.

He's just had his second birthday and the leapfrog scoop and learn ice cream cart has been a huge success. Wooden Melissa and Doug food has also been popular. Last years "rocky board" also gets played with a lot as there are just so many different things you can do with it. Plus it can go in the garden in the summer

Mammyloveswine · 03/11/2019 21:03

My little one turns 2 in January... he's got a dinosaur cosy coupe car, happyland dinosaur, light up teddy dinosaur, dinosaur aqua-doodle (there's a bit of a theme lol), wooden musical instrument set, wooden train set.

He loves all animals so got him a playmobil zoo set for his birthday and possibly a balance bike!

gonewiththerain · 03/11/2019 21:07

More wooden train set, some skittles ( not sure if they’ll be a good idea in the house ), books, colouring books and a few more vehicles

reluctantbrit · 03/11/2019 21:45

Happy land sets
Tea set and kitchen, play food
Puzzles
Books
Annual pass for a play center, zoo, any other toddler suitable attractions
Outdoor toys like swing, slide, sand box
Play doh, basic arts and craft items like finger paint, stickers, paper which can be ripped and glue

DreamingofSunshine · 03/11/2019 21:48

DS will be 2.5 at Christmas. He's getting brio/wooden train bits, Le toy van doctors kit, and I'm contemplating a secondhand balance bike.

For his birthday he got a le toy van farmyard and animals, and a micro scooter. All been big hits.

Worlds0kayestmum · 03/11/2019 21:53

My 2.5 DS is getting a balance bike, toy garage, peppa pig playdough set, paw patrol remote control car, hey duggee soft toy and a toy rubbish truck (which will be his favourite because he's obsessed with trucks)

MrsPworkingmummy · 03/11/2019 21:58

Our son, who will be 22 months at Christmas, is getting: a ride on pedal digger, a brio train set, crayola washable pens, a whirling peg game, children's construction vechicle themed books, Melissa and doug pretend cleaning equipment and some stocking fillers.
He has the ikea kitchen which is well played with so could be a good choice.

NanooCov · 03/11/2019 22:22

I have 2 year old and a 5 year old. We're getting them a joint present of a mud kitchen for Christmas. Also some wooden railway bits to add to what they already have, also some Trackmaster bits to add to what they already have too. Some books and either some Go Jetters or Octonauts toys.

littlestrawby · 04/11/2019 21:29

Oooh a handy thread! My DD will be turning two in early December. I have the attached as my list for each event, and am having to stop myself from adding to it further Grin

goose1964 · 04/11/2019 22:59

Grandson but so far he's had a hobby horse as an early present £2.99 bargain from a charity shop. We're going to buy him something with wheels that he can't disassemble as the rest.

LiquoricePickle · 05/11/2019 00:26

I'm getting an indoor wooden climbing frame for him and his sister. She'll be 8 months old. It has a rock wall, a side with netting to climb, bars, a swing and a slide that flips over to be a different rock climbing thing. It also has a cover to turn it into a playhouse.

We have far too many toys because our children are close in age and our families went crazy. So this will be the gift from us, my sister and her partner, my mum and step dad and my dad and step mum.

We also live abroad, so it'll be good for them to have something like this inside when it gets down to minus ten outside.

His stocking will have stickers, chocolate buttons, socks, magnetic letters and a kids domino set. Oh, and a satsuma.

He's also being given a magnatile add on set (these are his absolute all time favorite) and probably some other craft things.
