Hi all, DS (16) is obsessed with waffles so we thought we'd get him a waffle maker for Christmas- can anyone recommend a decent, easy to use one?
TIA

We have a sandwich toaster that you can put waffle plates in. A breville one. We love it

The recipe is the important part. We like liege waffles for which you need pearl sugar. Available from Ocado

Brilliant Handsnotwands, thank you. Will get that sugar beforehand!

Also think about how you like your waffles. Some you put the mix in and when you close it the top squashes into the mix, others when you close it there is a space created for the mix to rise into. Both give Belgian waffle types but the first are thinner and the second bigger and fluffier. Keeping in mind the amount of butter in waffles, Lakeland do one that makes them in fingers rather than full waffles which might be a good option.

I got my daughter one from Urban Outfitters which makes mini waffles

Thanks all.
OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea - really good point about the different types, I'll look at them all.

Thanks AvenueQ, I wouldn't have thought to look at Urban Outfitters for a waffle maker!

I have a Cooks Professional rotary waffle maker (it sounds fancier than it is!) which is about £30 on Amazon. I’ve had it for about two years but maybe used it 10 times since then - more because waffles are more work than pancakes. However I’ve found it really good, the waffles are a good size, generally well cooked and nice and fluffy!

It took a while to find a good recipe but now I use this one: metro.co.uk/2018/05/06/the-perfect-recipe-to-make-the-absolute-best-waffles-this-weekend-7461056/

Thanks paddingtonbearsmarmalade (great name) - I'll look that one up. The recipe looks lovely (all that butter!)

Someone on another thread was praising bubble waffles. They need a special waffle cooker but do look rather delicious.

We have a very cheap Asda one that makes toasted sandwiches/ paninies/ waffles. Think it was £15 it’s very easy to make the waffles with this. I had a much more expensive waffle maker before which I gave up on because it was too much of a faff!

Cuisinart, had mine for many years -17ish, makes the large waffles
