I'm getting my 2 almost 3yr old a play kitchen from Santa. Any recommendations? I'm looking at IKEAs one or a step2 one. Just want to get something good quality that will last a good few years ta x

We have an IKEA one and it's great. There are lots of "hacks" on pinterest which are essentially painting it/ adding vinyl to make it look like a mini version of your kitchen. Good resale value as well. I was looking to get one 2nd hand but all the ones listed near me went within a day usually at £30-40. We have the pots and pans and utensils well. Ours gets a LOT of use.

Asda did a lovely wooden one last year

Spam88 · 28/10/2019 16:28

The Ikea one always gets rave reviews, it's on offer at the moment as well if you take out a Family card.

Aldi and Lidl both have their wooden toys in now/later this week and I think both have kitchens.

ElspethFlashman · 28/10/2019 16:29

Ikea one is good. Bit of a pain to assemble but all ikea is! The rings on the hob have orange lights which is a nice touch.

The Aldi one is in next week and looks good, and will be assembly required also.

We had the little tikes wooden one and it was still like new when we sold it on

DreamingofSunshine · 28/10/2019 16:42

The ikea one is great.

I think aldi have some wooden ones online, they look lovely. I have a wooden aldi dolls house and it's great quality.

Bubblysqueak · 28/10/2019 16:44

We bought DC an IKEA one when they were 2 and 3 and they've played with it most days. It's been used and abused for 3 years and still as good as new.

BeanBag7 · 28/10/2019 16:44

We have an aldi one from a few years ago and it's great, especially for the price. I really rate the aldi wooden toys generally.

MagicKingdom · 28/10/2019 16:44

We have a kidkraft one it's great. We have boys though so wanted something that was neutral.

We love our Ikea one.

redmimi · 28/10/2019 17:08

The Ikea one is brilliant. We bought one for daughter's 2nd birthday and it got loads of use. Nearly 7 years later I've recently sold it on for £30 so great value for money.

meow1989 · 28/10/2019 17:19

Were getting ds an ikea one (he will be 18 m) and adding a few bits like knobs and lights

queenofelves · 28/10/2019 17:51

Aldi have some brilliant ones online at the moment!

plinkyblonk · 28/10/2019 20:55

Thanks everyone! Think we will be going ikea as I love some of the hacks Smile she loves playing shops so can turn it around and she can be the shop keeper.

I'm not sure if they'll be doing it again this year but we bought the Aldi one last year! Brilliant price and really lovely/sturdy. My girls still play with it every single day!

We got a wooden one from Asda..I wanted one with a dishwasher and microwave although in hindsight I’d do it separately as the microwave makes no noise but very sturdy.

GhostOfChristmasPudding · 29/10/2019 10:56

Another vote for the Ikea kitchen here. We got it for DS in March for his 2nd birthday, and it’s played with almost daily and stands up to a lot of banging cupboards and vigorous play. We also got the little metal pots and pans from Ikea to go with it, and they’re lovely and very tough. And we got some of the wooden food from Lidl, which I think they’ve got again this year, and it’s great quality for the price.

KaterMurr · 29/10/2019 11:04

I just ordered this one for my DD's 3rd birthday. I haven't received it yet so can't really review but from my research it was the best one I could find for value - but I was also looking for something fairly compact and narrow to fit in my house.

wirelessprinter · 01/11/2019 00:47

The IKEA one definitely. My now almost 6 year old received it as a first birthday present. It is still played with on probably a daily basis by her or her little sister. Great quality, not garish and comes with nice accessories too. Just don't get fill the basin with water as mine did as water will damage the wood!

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 01/11/2019 00:51

The ikea one is boring. We had one and I sold it. In the end we got one for £20 on Facebook, scandi brand but nothing special. There are always loads of them on fb. We painted ours with blackboard paint.

hamalooya · 02/11/2019 01:41

Costco one is brilliant but took soooo long to build! It is worth it though.
