7 year old niece - stuck for ideas

What can I buy my seven year old niece? I am fresh out of ideas. Not a clue! I don't have children myself and struggle every year, but this is a fresh kind of blank, she's a bit too old for toys and games, but too young for trying make up and nail varnish! Help please.

Does she like Harry Potter? There is a lovely new Christmas book coming out?

ritzbiscuits · 25/10/2019 19:51

Ignore that suggestion, it's since been released and it's an advent calendar.

Jane1978xx · 25/10/2019 19:52

Does she like jojo bows ? Or maybe some hair accessories and jewellery. Clare’s voucher. Craft stuff

ritzbiscuits · 25/10/2019 19:53

They do lovely illustrated versions of the books you could look at?

Chimchimcharoo · 25/10/2019 19:58

She isn’t too old for toys and games. My 7 year old has slime, prank kit, barbie furniture, playmobil, monopoly and horrible history books on her wish list. Her friends like lol dolls and Lego though she is isn’t too much into those. How about a trip out to the cinema or ice skating if you don’t want to buy a toy? Or a onesie always goes down well when she is gifted one from her auntie.

Linnylinn1 · 25/10/2019 19:59

Lego??

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 25/10/2019 20:01

All the 7 year olds I know still play with toys and games. I'm not sure how much you want to spend but Our Generation Dolls seem to be very popular with that age group. Anything from Smiggle is also likely to be a big hit. What about something for her room like some nice bedding? We got our 7year old niece a make your own glittery lava lamp kit for her birthday recently and she loved it.

Lc2006 · 25/10/2019 20:47

Most 7 year olds I know are massively into LOL stuff. The list is endless at this age really. Has she said she's not into toys? I don't think I know many 7 year olds that aren't but other options are

Board game - labrynth, ticket to ride, 5 Second Rule all good ones
Something for her room - Sequin cushions, fluffy throws, lava lamp, fairy lights
Art supplies/light tracing pad
Voucher for cinema/trampoline place/climbing wall/bowling
Nail varnishes
Creative things - kumi creator, cross stitch, make your own bath bombs
Books

SaveMeBarry · 25/10/2019 21:07

this secret diary looks good and comes with stickers, lock etc.

this scrapbook kit has gone down well as a gift for 6 - 8 year olds, I’ve bought it multiple times. Looks like it costs more than it does too!

If she likes lego there are good sets in various price ranges. LEGO friends is popular with girls her age.

slime station

A karaoke microphone

Unicorn/mermaid/other cute creature onesie

A magic set

Science set such as zombie party or a rock painting kit like this

CoffeeChocolateWine · 25/10/2019 21:51

My 7yo still loves toys! Particularly Our Generation dolls, LOL dolls and slime! Or some nice stationary, especially notebooks, gel pens, nice pencil cases. Is she quite creative? My DD got a tie dying kit for her birthday along with plain white T-shirts and bags and she has had so much fun with it. She has this one
I’ve got my eye on this for Christmas. Again quite creative and probably a bit messy...the sort of thing she’d love!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 25/10/2019 21:55

Another big hit from my 7yo’s birthday was the Top Model fashion design books.

Or how about a lovely book or selection of books? The Goodnight stories for rebel girls books are fantastic.

Mumdiva99 · 25/10/2019 21:55

Origami book, tie die kit, make your own bath bombs, make your own chocolate coins - but you have to agree to actually do that with her or her mum will hate you forever....4 bastard hours for 4 coins....the kids love it!! Or a ticket to be redeemed for a cinema trip and maccy D's with you at a future date (replace cinema trip with whatever she likes).

LegoLady95 · 25/10/2019 22:36

My soon to be 7yo DD loves Orchard Games board games. We are currently playing Scaredy Cat and Crazy Chefs on repeat, and I've ordered Pop to the Shops for her birthday. They are great quality, educational and fun.
She is also getting a stunt scooter as she loves riding her brother's, a neon flamingo lamp, a gift set of talc (she loves talc), kinetic sand and Ellie the Husky as she is mad for teds but hates dolls.

Majorcollywobble · 25/10/2019 22:39

What a nice auntie you are . Can you ask her parents for ideas ? Normally most children have a shipping order prepared by this stage .

Serin · 25/10/2019 22:52

Too old for toys at 7?
Blimey, even my 17year old has some games for Christmas.
What about jigsaws/puzzles, roller skates, scooter, Lego, knex, marble runs.

SandAndSea · 25/10/2019 22:55

A watch?

Leeds2 · 25/10/2019 22:57

A beanbag.
PJs and dressing gown.
Swim bag with her name on it, and a swim suit and pool toys.

MadameJosephine · 25/10/2019 23:01

DD has asked for a baking book after watching junior bake off so I’m planning to put her a box together with the book and some baking stuff like apron, rolling pin, mixing bowl, piping bags, cookie cutters

Leeds2 · 25/10/2019 23:10

That's a great idea, MadameJosephine. There are loads of suitable things to include in the Lakeland catalogue, and I have got personalised wooden spoons/spatulas before now from Not On The High Street.

MadameJosephine · 25/10/2019 23:43

I hadn’t thought of personalised ones, she’d love that Leeds2

WagtailRobin · 26/10/2019 00:27

How about some "proper" jewellery, like a pretty necklace or bracelet? I have bought one of my niece's sterling silver personalised pieces from Hurley Burley.

The packaging is lovely and all of the children's jewellery is beautiful yet reasonably priced. A necklace is a bit more grown up and it's a gift she will always have. I don't know how to add photos but one of the pieces I have bought is a necklace- a heart with a puffy star (all pure sterling silver) and an amethyst stone, her name is engraved on the heart.

caringcarer · 26/10/2019 00:34

Why don't you ask her Mum what she would like? £20 and she could chose herself something she would like. So much easier and then you know you will not give her something she already has or does not like.

middlemuddle · 26/10/2019 00:55

My 7yo wants hatchimals, shopkins and lol dolls. Oh & a voucher for build a bear.

OctoberLovers · 26/10/2019 00:59

LOL SURPRISE

Thats what iv got my 7 year old niece for Christmas.
But its £130 so depends how much you want to spend
