My sister is going through the menopause and has become both gluten and dairy intolerant, Its making her miserable because there's now so many things she can't eat. But she does love turkish delight so wondered if anyone knows of a company that makes 'present worthy' turkish delight?

Huge thanks

My friend who is gluten and dairy free mainly eats Haribos but they aren't really treats. Farm shops often sell nice boxes of Turkish Delight. What about Booja Booja chocolates, they are vegan and I guess you don't normally find gluten in chocolates if you avoid wafers etc.

I was about to say booja booja chocolates! They’re a bit pricey so definitely a treat!

Hadtonamechangeforthis123 · 25/10/2019 08:30

Ooooh just had a look at Booja booja they look lovely! Thank you

I think most traditional Turkish delight is gluten free, it’s made with corn starch isn’t it?

Hotel chocolat have a really nice gift box and if you scroll down to ingredients it says suitable for vegans/vegetarians, gluten and dairy free.

here

I’ll echo what everyone else had said, booja booja is delicious!!

montezumas have a dairy and gluten free box here too.

Ruralretreating · 25/10/2019 09:45

May not be present worthy but there are some lovely new bars/products out recently that are free-from and taste good - Moo free Cinder Toffee, Nomo bars (fruit crunch is my favourite), and Enjoy! Vanilla filled bar from Holland & Barrett is okay too. Booja Booja truffles are beautiful as PPs have said. Moo free have also brought out a box of truffles but I haven’t tried them yet, I just saw them in Sainsbury’s.

Jelly beans do amazing gift sets.

MangoSalsa · 28/10/2019 07:57

Truede Turkish Delight is lovely.

Daphine2004 · 28/10/2019 08:52

I was also going to recommend lazy days tiffin. They do other treats as well. We bought a selection box a few years ago for my friend who is coeliac. I’m now dairy feed as my baby has a milk allergy and I’ve been “testing” the market! 😄

I wasn’t a fan of the dairy free fudge. Comes in an orange packet. It’s far too sweet and had a bit of a funny aftertaste for me.

I like hotel chocolat anyway so will make a conscientious effort to try more of their items at Christmas!

I have also become aware that Holland and Barrett sell vegan mince pies which are supposed to be good. They’re on my list to try.

Waitrose do nice boxes of Turkish delight at Christmas- they also have v nice marshmallows (not sure if they are gluten or dairy- free tho')

Wormwoodm · 29/10/2019 14:22

The marshmallowist’s marshmallows are really lovely. Not dairy free but the baileys ones were too good, they also do lots of other flavours that are dairy and gluten free in a lovely box so make a lovely gift.

BareKneesDeCourcy · 29/10/2019 14:27

Booja Booja, yes!

Free-from mince pies, Xmas cake, choc logs etc., from Sainsbury’s.

Lazy Day millionaire’s shortbread is almost worth the ensuing diabetes. Very addictive!

ErrolTheDragon · 29/10/2019 14:31

How about sugared almonds?

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 29/10/2019 20:23

I know she's your sister so you probably know this but need to ask -are you sure she's ok with chocolate? A friend of mine who is dairy intolerant also can't eat chocolate. Don't know how common it is for the two to go together or whether she is unique!

itsgettingweird · 29/10/2019 20:29

Check out Aldi and Lidl this time of year too.

They suddenly have lovely GF and DF things on offer.

Longbarn5 · 29/10/2019 21:22

Have a look at the d and D website. Think they do some useful stuff and dairy free

FinallyHere · 29/10/2019 21:26

Reassuringly expensive, absolutely delicious.

Definitely treat worthy.

Wormwoodm · 29/10/2019 21:31

Another thought, check the ingredients but a lot of Aldi’s dark chocolate is dairy or gluten free. Very nice too!

MangoSalsa · 30/10/2019 05:30

These water truffles are very good.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/10/2019 09:50

Halva

There's a stand in Stratford Westfields that sells it , loads of flavours .

There used to be one at Lakeside , it has disappeared and I mourn Sad

springtimeinbognor · 30/10/2019 10:42

If she likes mints, all the bendicks chocolates are dairy free.

onalongsabbatical · 30/10/2019 10:56

Are you just after packable presents or can you bake for her for events, like xmas, OP? I ask because I'm gluten-free with a vegan friend and last xmas I visited and made a phenomenally successful vegan and gluten-free choc and cherry cake which went down a storm with all of those present. I'll dig out the recipe if you like.
