I have 3 girls (13, 11 and 7) and they are always very spoiled at Christmas time but this year I’m determined to buy things that are a bit more meaningful and unusual, less about the brands, and definitely cut back on the plastic and screens.

DD1 quite cool, very into her performing arts and dance, loves to cook, but also loves a bandwagon and is into anything to do with strangers things, overdosed and refers to herself as VSCO girl whatever the fuck that is Confused and has been vegetarian for around 9 months now.

DD2 book geek, academic and very sporty, also the funniest person I know. She’s happy with absolutely anything and for some reason this makes her the hardest person to buy for.

DD3 still very much into toys and absolutely loves her LOL’s but also love/collects little animals, knitted hedgehogs, carved mice and will sit and play imaginary games with them for ages (currently not able to wear her slippers because it’s a bed for her toy rabbit Grin She absolutely loves being outside and wants to be a farmer when she grows up!!

Ideas I have came up with myself...

Old vintage books
bubble tea set
Theatre tickets
Inside roasting marshmallow kits
Wooden
Maileg furniture (for youngest)
Rock tumbler
Den making set

If anyone would like to join in and post any finds that that they think my girls might like or want to join in for ideas please do...

I’m very stuck this year!!!

Thanks for the rock tumbler suggestion...that’s gone straight on my list!

My older DD is 7 and sounds very similar to yours...love animals, anything crafty, LOL dolls and also Our Generation dolls. On the list of possible pressies I’ve got theatre tickets, junior zookeeper or animal encounter experience, magazine subscription (not sure what yet...maybe National Geographic Kids or an art and craft one), WWF adoption, baking stuff, Our Generation camping set, bath bomb making kit, sunography kit, a few gymnastics bits, books and a PS4 game. She’s desperate for Cubby Bear but really hoping she’ll change her mind!

Watching for ideas for the older girls too as I need to buy small presents for my nieces who are that age.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 22/10/2019 17:18

i think your oldest would like a hydro flask, some 'aesthetic' stickers and some scrunchies if she talks about being a vsco girl (these items are basically 'symbols' of being one afaik). she might like a dance mat and a veggie cook book?

your dd2 might like this lovely book shaped lamp, or a subscription to book a month so she receives new books to read every month

for your youngest, do you have a garden? could you section a bit off (little fence or flags etc), and then provide her with gardening tools (like a rake, trowel, seeds etc) and let that be her garden patch? you could put a little sign like this in to show that it is clearly hers. if you don't have a garden, you could look into an allotment, or you could go for something like aqua dragons.

all the best x

Lava lamp
Roller skates/blades
Magic set
Telescope
3D jigsaw puzzle - we have the Harry Potter bus and the Disney Cinderella Castle.
Ice cream maker
Board game
Netball hoop and ball
My Fairy Garden
Animal adoption

CoffeeChocolateWine · 22/10/2019 18:16

If you like pp’s idea of a garden patch, have a look at these flower seed bombs. I think they are a fab fun idea.

separatebeds · 22/10/2019 18:20

does the eldest have the vsco girl shell necklace?

VanyaHargreeves · 22/10/2019 18:21

Also a specific brand of bag : Fjallraven is a VCSO staple apparently, huge tshirts and for some reason I'm thinking Polaroid camera but might have that wrong

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 22/10/2019 18:31

I've ordered mine a couple of wigs. A mystic unicorn multicoloured one and a purple bob.

Also some ethical glitter and makeup brushes.

3littlemincemeatpies · 22/10/2019 18:38

Thanks, great suggestions, especially love the zoo keeper experience for littlest, will definitely check that out as think would love it!

Eldest has a hydro flask and the absolutely ridiculously priced rucksack that her gran bought her! Hmm

Was reading about vsco girls the other day. I believe they're into

Vans shoes
Friendship or beaded bracelets (Maybe a lot to make her own?)
Scrunchies
Lipbalms like carmex and burts bees
Lush products
Fancy bottles for water lol
Oversized hoodies
Chokers
Polaroid cameras

Had to google VSCO girl:

17caterpillars1mouse · 23/10/2019 21:17

A few outthere ideas

Dd1 - cheese making kit, cheerleading pom poms

Dd3 - those felt mice that come in little match boxes, can't remember what they are called,

Dd2 -

3littlemincemeatpies · 23/10/2019 21:21

Thanks for suggestions, she’s obviously taking this VSCO thing quite seriously as has all the things that seem to determine if you are one. Grin

For all our sins we have ponies and the youngest two are very horsey!!

A few things I have looked at today (if anyone is interested)

The maileg book house for my youngest, I guess probably quite young for some 7 year olds but she loves making little houses for animals

Activity Fitbit strap for eldest, apparently her plastic one not great for sports as gets all sticky

Scrunchy for youngest with little ears on them, she is desperate for the same as her big sis but thought she were quite a cute alternative.

Basic/plain Scrap book with name motif/decoration for the front so it’s personalised. Looking at the sprocket for her and thought this would go alongside nicely and be good for putting all her memories into.

Absolutely stumped for middle DD, she’s quiet compared to the other two and not very pushy of chatty about anything she’d like.

Also after being very excited about the Zoo keeper experience, I googled our local zoo and they do do it....

For around £200!!!! Shock

What about horsey presents? That's still my favourite. It's just been my birthday and I got a new samshield hat, a coat, warm yard boots, new boots for the horses and a pair of breeches. Would any of those be ideas?

3littlemincemeatpies · 26/10/2019 08:05

@Fueledwithfairydustandgin I will definitely pick some things up like that, my youngest has already mentioned XC colours this year so that’s quite a good idea and they always get a brush of some description and a lickit in their stocking but I do tend to find I could quite easily make up a pile with stuff they/we need opposed to stuff that’s got the wow factor!!!

Though I’d happily settle with a pair of Dubarry boots from Santa if he’s feeling generous!! Grin

Indoor allotment - it's a cute little shed with garden to grow plants.

Vegetarian marshmallows.

Chillys dinks bottles

Magazine subscription

Season ticket to trampoline park / water park / sealife centre / zoo etc

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 26/10/2019 19:47

@3littlemincemeatpies I know what you mean but I tend to ask for fancy versions of things. Like I'd never spend £400 on a hat myself but as a birthday present from a few people it's a huge treat. Things like blingy browbands, personalised equiport saddleclothes, posh headcollars and fluffy boots are all things I've asked for before.
I didn't love my dubarrys. I thought they were nice to look at but have way preferred my ariats from a warmth and comfort perspective. I got a pair of Sorel Joan of arctic boots for my birthday. I'm determined to be warm this winter

kateandme · 26/10/2019 20:20

@kateandme I love that idea, we move around a lot due to DH’s job but maybe I could find something smaller and less breakable...

Dd2 might like a scratch off book poster from the literary gift company as quite fun to see how many books you’ve read. They do loads of book themed things so lots of other options too.
