Christmas Outfit

Not sure if this should be here or in Style and Beauty.

Wondering what people wear on Xmas day. We've never been a matching PJ's family, nor do we do jumpers.

I would like to look xmassy but classy. If there is such a thing!

Am thinking smart black jeans and black boots, dark red jumper and gold jewelry.
I'm hosting so will be in and out of kitchen so will be wearing an apron for some of the day.

What do other people wear?

Or a red jumper dress with boob access if anyone's seen one!!!

I have m&S brocade leggings that I have worn every Christmas day for the last 6 years 😀 .just add a lightweight jumper . Last year I got a black chenille with gold stars one. Needs to be suitable for hot flushes .hot kitchen. Washable and festive. We dress up a bit for Christmas dinner. No pyjamas (one of my traditions for my son to eyeroll at)

I like to get dressed up, so normally a dress, preferably sequinned. I'll have a (very) newborn this year though so I'll be digging out an old red nursing dress.

I like to dress up a bit and be comfy.

So something like a soft very stretchy black dress with sequins on, or wide legged soft trousers with a sparkly top. I had a brilliant really soft grey/silver rollneck jumper from m&s which had a very open knit so it wasn't too hot that i wore for over a decade before i had to admit it was worn out!

If you have a proper apron you should be fine, surely? And i have found i cool down massively after rushing around so I'd wear a plain / black top and a light sparkly jumper to put over it when you sit down

And sparkly earrings / jewellery / reindeer antlers...

Oh wow thanks everyone for all the replies!

I have been down a rabbit hole of brocade leggings, jersey swing dresses with sequins and tartan.

I didn't consider reindeer antlers as they won't fit my "classy" look Grin

Whatever I go for, I need to get a full length ventilated boiler suit for cooking...

My reindeer antlers are really classy, I'll have you know. They are made of brown fleecy material with wire in them so I can position them according to my mood. I bought them 20 years ago and they were worth every penny of the £5 I spent on them then... Grin

There are some nice velvet and lace dresses on the Joe Brown's website - I'm not really a fan of the print dresses they do although the Christmas Cracker dress did make me smile.

@kenandbarbie They have a red tartan pinafore dress with straps that cross over at the back that are attached to the front bodice with buttons. I wonder if it would be breastfeeding suitable. It probably wouldn't be too discreet but you could make it work.

I like to spend Christmas morning in PJ's but then dress up a bit for lunch. We're going to my parents this year so I don't have to worry about getting hot and bothered while cooking. Comfort is key as I plan to eat my own body weight in roast potatoes and pigs in blankets. I think I'm going for a leopard print satin pleated midi skirt (elasticated waist, super comfy) and a plain black, fine knit jumper.

hopefully that link works, I bought these matching jammies for me DP & DD. Not one myself to like christmas jammies but thought these were nice & plain but just enough!

The quality of them is also very good just like normal jammies not a crap material xx

Midnight Mass: something under a good coat

Morning: Fancy dress running gear for Parkrun.

Then probably something like velvet jeans with a favourite top for rest of day

Bloodybridget · 24/10/2019 09:33

I never usually think about a Christmas outfit, but this year DP and I are going to a hotel for the first time ever, so no cooking or washing up! So have bought myself a nice skirt and gorgeous shirt from Seasalt, hope the pub where we're having Christmas lunch is nice and cosy!

Bloodybridget · 24/10/2019 09:34

I do like the sound of @TigerJoy's antlers!

CrazyBaubles · 24/10/2019 11:45

I stick to a dress. Whether I wear tights or leggings is decided by where we'll be (home, parents, in-laws = leggings, out = tights).
I buy a new Christmas jumper most years (I wear them throughout December) which I can slip on over the top.

This year we're going to spend Christmas in Scotland and I think I'm stealing the tartan dress idea.
