Dressing up box essentials

My girls are 4 and 2, soon to be 5 and 3 and for part of their Christmas I want to make them a sarong dressing up box. I've got a big old fashioned trunk I'm going to use, but wanted ideas of what to go in it...obviously lots of chunky jewellery, scarves, hats etc, and some costumes, but what else? Trying to do it mostly from charity shops too.

Sarong dressing up box? I mean sharing! Although a sarong might work in there...

A retro ski suit and goggles? Probably easy to find in a charity shop and great for make believe play.

My DC are too old for this but I just wanted to say what a lovely idea!

And what about those helmets you get with a light on.

BikeRunSki · 21/10/2019 08:34

Waistcoat
Wigs
All sorts of hats and scarves
All sorts of bags
Old glasses (take out lenses)/sunglasses

Dd got more mileage out of scarves and off cuts than expensive costumes. We had some pegs to use for fastening scarves (I’m sure there’s a better solution but my sleep deprived brain never found it)
A hi-vis vest
A poofy skirt (these were very fashionable a few years ago, so probably easily found in charity shops now)

If you have a cheap fabric shop near you they sell very cheap net in all sorts of colours. Great for playing all sorts of dress up games. They can design their own costumes then with capes, saris etc.
Look for offcuts too. Like fur.
And funny hats or masks
