Has anyone seen a really large wreath?

Has anyone seen a really large indoor wreath - or something with a similar feel? I've got a plain chimney breast with no mantle piece which is crying out for something a bit statement!

Got the idea from a magazine in a waiting room but stupidly didn't look at which magazine or where to buy the wreath in the picture - I thought a quick google of 'extra large wreath' would find something but they are all a bit puny! ideally something around a metre by a metre.

Doesn't have to be a wreath maybe something different - any ideas?

Make your own?

Go for a little forage for wintery things like holly, ferns, pine cones etc. You might find a workshop nearby that does Christmas wreaths. My friend runs such workshops, and I can't imagine she would be the only one. Grin

the range will probably have something suitable

UpToonGirl · 14/10/2019 13:08

@hoopdaloo I did wonder about that, I've seen a few workshops locally but from the looks of it they just do the standard size...might contact a couple and see if they do extra large.

@brieandchilli yep, it's on my list of places to check out, although I can't remember seeing one in previous years.

UpToonGirl definitely worth asking. It's so lovely to make your own. I always feel so proud when I have mine on my door Grin

Costco usually has some out-size Christmas decorations.

UpToonGirl · 14/10/2019 19:11

vaguelysensible bingo! Costco has a 1.5m wreath...unfortunately it is £165 so a bit more than I was looking to spend but it's just what I'm looking for.

Arg, they do also have a 6ft nutcracker for £355, maybe these could be my Christmas pressies to myself...

Look on Pinterest for wreaths based on a cheap hula hoop.

Barbarara · 14/10/2019 22:01

Hula hoop, green florist wire and a garland?

boredboredboredboredbored · 14/10/2019 22:03

The White Co

I saw this one the other day which I thought was but the price isn't! If you wait until Jan it'll likely be a quarter of the price 😂

Parkmama · 14/10/2019 22:15

Costco have really large everything for Christmas!

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 14/10/2019 22:21

We had one made by our local independent florist once. I gave her a rough idea of what I wanted and she produced the perfect, huge, above the mantlepiece sized wreath.

UpToonGirl · 15/10/2019 09:43

boredboredboredboredbored that's beautiful but bloody hell, who is spending that sort of £ on these things?!

I think I'll give making my own a go, I might have a hula hoop laying around somewhere.

UpToonGirl I've just read your post whilst sitting in front of my chimney breast & want one now!

Barbarara great idea using a hula hoop!

Dobbies have large artificial wreaths, or they did when I was in last weekend - did you have a size in mind?

I have made one before with a hula hoop and a garland, then wired dried orange slices and other stuff to the garland. It looked good, but the weight did make the hoop distort a bit. This year I think I’m going to retry using pool noodles - probably 2 joined to make a bigger one as I think they will stay circular.

Cover the hoop with florist tape first, so you don’t see the brightly coloured hoop in the gaps.

I saw that at the weekend. To call it terrifying would be an understatement.
