Please help I’m hosting Boxing Day for the first time. It’s the day I spend with my dad. I will be at my mums for Christmas Day. I want to try and avoid being in kitchen all day on Boxing Day. Thought about doing like a buffet style food with games and drinks etc. Wanted to try and get party food that could go in freezer with minimal drama. Please help me prep I have no idea! It’s for 6 adults. Thanks

Sounds lovely. My absolute favourite meal on Boxing Day (I possibly prefer it to Christmas dinner Shock) is baked ham with jacket potatoes, salad and leftovers from Christmas Day if there are any. Ham is easy to do in advance, and you can just stick the potatoes in the oven during the morning. I do perhaps green salad, tomato salad, mushrooms a la grecque etc (no need to do as much as this but I like them!) then some cheeses and chutneys/relishes/mayo etc. You could have bread (eg parbaked baguettes that you cook in the oven) if you didn’t fancy potatoes. This works for buffet or sit down, whichever you prefer.

Lovely.

Cook a gammon and beef joint on Christmas Eve. The day before this, cook roast veg inc potatoes so you can fry up a bubble and squeak along side the cooked meats with lots of pickles.

Do a cheese board with part baked bread along with a baked Camembert

Cheat with store bought desserts

If you buy party nibbles, m&s and aldi both do selections that all cook at the same oven temp, which makes life easier.

You could serve a big pot of chilli, curry, boeuf bourguignon with sides. If you have the freezer space it could be made well in advance too so you just need to defrost and heat through.
