List gifts only or added extras?

DD is adamant that she ONLY wants 1 thing for Christmas - Shopkins with a toy barbecue for them 🤔 and she would like a Barbie ambulance for her birthday which isn't until March.

I'm not sure why she's being so specific but 6yo's are rarely logical 😂

I bought the Barbie ambulance as her main gift as it was half price and have picked up a few dolls to go with it but now I'm wondering if I should just keep it back and buy Shopkins as requested?

Do you usually stick to list only or do you add extras? I usually buy extras but trying to cut back as neither of my kids really bother with toys unless it's something they have specifically asked for so maybe it's best to spread it.

I add extras, and let the kids know their list is a wishlist not them putting an exact order in. They are 2.5, 4.5 and 7 years old. I woukd give her the shopkins and the ambulance if budget allows. She has asked for them both, just not at the same event. Having said that, if her birthday is January I would hold back the barbie ambulance. The extras I buy are ones that complement either existing interests or their new toys.

I'd give her the shopkins and the ambulance if your budget can allow it

We do buy extras. Mainly things we think DD will enjoy using but hasn't really thought about it herself.

These ones came then from DH and me, not from Father Christmas though.

You've reminded me of when DD was two and a half she asked for crayons for Christmas. We got her some along with a dolls pram and a few other bits and bobs.
She had a massive tantrum when she came down and saw the unwrapped pram and refused to open anything for hours!

That's pretty much what I was thinking, she doesn't ask for much and Shopkins aren't too pricey so I don't mind getting both.

Now I just need to figure out what a "barbecue to play with the Shopkins" actually means as Google doesn't know haha

If it helps there's a limited edition shopkin called barb b que.
That might be what she's after? Set with that specific figure in it?

SquintEastwood · 12/10/2019 21:12

Thanks Lima I think that's what she's after!

I asked her what the barbecue one looked like and she said it was a little pink rainbow figure - turns out that there's 2 versions of Bar B Que so I've picked up the pink/blue ombre one from eBay for £1.50 which isn't bad considering :)

I would get both!

there's a hot dog stand for the shopkins dolls that looks a bit like a barbeque :)

WagtailRobin · 13/10/2019 00:34

I would get her both (if your budget allows for it), her birthday isn't until March and by then she may be interested in something completely different.

Yay my encyclopedic knowledge of Shopkins finally came In useful. (Thanks DD!)

And in this case I'd give her both for Christmas. As there's not much to Shopkins and I'm sure there'll be a new toy craze before March
