Scooter for 5 year old

Hi all

DD would like a scooter for Christmas but I'm unsure what would be best for her.

Do we go with the Flicker wiggle type scooter although quite bulky

The 2 wheel fold up character type

Or one of those 2 wheels at the front one at the back styles?

Any recommendations or reasons why one is better than the other. Thanks

Micro scooters last. Cheaper brands don't. Mine got maxi micros when/just before turning 6 - probably too big for a 5yo,but mini micros can be sold on.
Our maxis are still running well after 4-5 years of nearly 2 miles every school day.

Kids tend to only get 2-wheelers age 8 or do as need more balance.

Maxi micro deluxe. If you trade in an old scooter at halfords you get 20% off. If you sign up to jo jo maman bebe you get 10 % off code. Micro themselves usually have black Friday deals, and 8m sure very had some colours/styles reduced. We've bought the mini micro deluxe, fab quality and highly recommended to me by mumsnetters and other parents. If you do get a micro check out your local halfords (not online) as they have heavily discounted micro accessories (flower, streamers, helmet etc) to make way for new stock for Christmas.

Oh I forgot to add, micro maxi deluxe also comes as a fold up version. I've heard good things about globber as a second choice, I'm sure they are on offer at very or argos.

Jd bugg junior street. Dd got one for Christmas when she was 4/5 still uses it she's 8 almost 9. Good quality but not quite the price of micro scooters.

If this is her first scooter then I would recommend 3 wheels. If you can afford a micro then great but from my experience when my Son's both got their scooters they were older and I didnt want to spend that amount not knowing how long it would be until they wanted two wheels. Youngest was 4 and hes just turned 5 and has asked for a 2 wheel scooter for christmas however my 2 year old got a micro for her birthday for 2 reasons, it was on sale and I knew it would last her a few years as it would be a while until she needs or wants a 2 wheel scooter.

Two wheel should be fine. Neither of ours had a three wheeler, took a few weeks to get used to it but that's it.

Take your daughter to a shop and tear them. If she can ride a bike, she’ll be fine on two wheels. My son, who is not tall for his age, got a Micro Sprite for his fifth birthday. He was perfectly tall enough and got it straight away. It is too tall for his four year old brother to scoot comfortably and safely, but he can balance and do it already. I don’t see many children past 6 on three wheeled scooters here, but this does seem to vary by area.
