How to give Harry Potter tickets as gift for dcs

Wenchelda · 27/09/2019 16:40

Hi,

I've bought tickets for the family to visit HP world shortly after Xmas. The tickets are just an email, as is the hotel confirmation. This will be the dcs main Xmas present from us.

Any ideas on what I can do to make this into a present that can be unwrapped? Gift is for 7yo, 9yo & an adult.

Thanks Smile

Hi.

When I went I made a box with HP goodies in. Chocolates, PJs, tshirts etc...

And then there was an envelope at the bottom with a really fancy latter I made with an 'invitation to Hogwarts'

I think you can buy them on ebay and etsy though if you aren't artsy

Letter*

How exciting! Do they have wands? I would buy or make them a wand each and make a magic looking invite (Hogwarts logo, posh or tea-stained paper etc) to wrap around each wand before wrapping.

Oooooooooorrrrrrrrr (well, maybe AND) include it in a treasure hunt? Follow the clues to find the invite?

Eeep! Exciiiiting!!

OneShotFinch · 27/09/2019 16:44

You can get personalised Hogwarts acceptance letters (they look like the one Harry gets at the beginning of the book/movie) on places like amazon. How about a copy of the booking confirmation in with something like that?

I'm sure people will come along with better ideas soon!

Have a great time!

Can you find a trained owl anywhere...

But yes get it written out in parchment and into a little envelope with the Hogwarts seal on the back.
What a lovely surprise!

PrincessScarlett · 27/09/2019 16:47

Sainsburys sell a Hogwarts letter writing set for £4 that would look authentic.

Wenchelda · 27/09/2019 17:16

Princess that letter writing set looks perfect! Thank you Smile

Love the idea of making it into a bigger gift with pjs / chocolates / wands etc. Might do that too.

Now just to find an owl to deliver it all ......

Is it just the kids who don't know (or the adult too). Could you get one of the invites done & boxed up like a hamper with some HP goodies eg Primark pjs, socks, some sweets, annual etc & then get a helpful neighbour/friend to put it outside door / in back garden in view on Christmas Day at a preplanned time when you are all together so it looks like youre all surprised ?

BTW we went 3 years ago the week after Christmas & it was amazing - hope you have a great time

Wenchelda · 27/09/2019 21:18

@BeaLola the adult doesn't know either. So I need a good way of giving the tickets to them too. Although I guess the letter writing set would still work for a grown up HP fan!

I would go with the box of goodies, there's so much harry potter merchandise around you could fill a shoe box with loads of stuff and then wrap it in harry potter wrapping paper. Hope you have a fabulous time, ive been 6 times in 5 years, what can i say I'm a fan !!!

Imustbemad00 · 27/09/2019 21:43

I paid an extra £3.95 for delivery at time of poking to haventhe tickets sent as gifts in a Harry Potter envelope. You can call them and ask.

heyjoeyitsestelle · 27/09/2019 21:47

So jealous!
I'm 30 and agree- the letter idea is amazing- and I would love it probably just as much as your 7yo. Along with HP jarmies and stuff.
Off to hint to by DH that this is what I want for Christmas... Grin

Imustbemad00 · 27/09/2019 21:55

Time of booking not poking!!

linentowel · 28/09/2019 07:51

Primark have a lot of Harry Potter Merchandise. Including owls. Not real ones of course!

Wenchelda · 28/09/2019 08:07

Ooh Primark is a good idea. I forgot they have a lot of HP stuff Smile

Have you made sure the adult(s) have the day free of other plans and have made false plans with them to ensure they stay free to go?!

If you look on eBay and Etsy there are some fab boxes you can get, some can even be personalised, saying owl post or like an old fashioned hogwarts trunk - lots of different designs.

If you’re the slightest bit arty I reckon you could do a pretty good job yourself but if not they seem to be around the £9 mark for a personalised owl post box (sorry on the phone so can’t do links). But have a look - there are loads of ideas!

Wenchelda · 29/09/2019 12:02

@wibbletooth thanks for the tip about the boxes - I will have a look at those and maybe get some inspiration to try and make my own.

I checked with the other adult that they are free so although what we are doing is a surprise, they know something is happening that day!

Leave 4 invitations along with wands, matching HP pyjamas etc downstairs. Wake up early/while it's still dark and use your phone to get Alexa to play HP theme music very loudly so it wakes everyone up (including you Grin).

You know nothing about it, it's magic after all 😉

Artesia · 29/09/2019 23:02

Put the confirmation inside a Golden Snitch? Maybe a Snitch piñata if you can find one?!

Or put it onto the Harry Potter paper and tuck under the wing of a toy owl?

KronksSpinachPuffs · 29/09/2019 23:18

Not read the full thread but I would put the 2 tickets for your kids into thick white envelopes and see if you can get a red wax stamp online to attach to the back to make it look like a Hogwarts letter, and then present it with an owl stuffed toy so it looks like it's been delivered by the owl?

reluctantbrit · 30/09/2019 09:22

We gave DD a T-Shirt from Primark with a copy of the booking form hidden inside. In our cae it wasn't the main presents, the grandparents paid for all tickets so I didn't want to go totally overboard with extra gifts.
