Christmas present help

Hi, lovely people of MN.

Posting in AIBU for traffic.

Ok, I know Christmas is 3.5 months away, but I usually start my Christmas present hunt in October, just to make sure I have plenty of time to get thoughtful presents for the people I love.

I have no idea whatsoever anymore what to get Dp, DM and DF

Some relevant info
Dp: in his 30s, he's a senior software developer, loves technology but has everything he could have. A part of the present will be a perfume, but what about the rest? Budget about £250

Mother: in her 50s, very passionate about dressing nice, she loves perfumes (but has plenty) and generally is passionate about nice things overall. Buget about £100-ish

Father; in his 50s, senior software developer too, loves technology but doesn't own a lot, not a big fan of phones, etc. Budget about £100-ish

Please help, lovely MNetters Smile

Just to clarify are you in the U.K.?

Do your parents live here in the U.K.?

If so are they originally from abroad (given that you speak a different language with your DP at home)?

Sorry, I know I’m making lots of assumptions from almost nothing but there is method to the madness...

If they don’t get to go ‘home’ often is there anything from their country of origin that they really miss or can’t get here?

I am Danish and I don’t go home often enough. I would absolutely ^love’ a little hamper of things that I can’t get here, or snacks and treats that remind me of happy times in my childhood. If this applies to your mum and/or dad, I’m sure it would make a great present for each of them or to share between them.

Ninkaninus · 17/09/2019 13:14

(As long as their memories are happy, obviously)

Again, sorry for assuming.

proseccoaficionado · 17/09/2019 13:24

@Ninkaninus don't be sorry, you got it quite right. I studied in Scotland (hence the mumsnet obsession) and lived in the UK for almost 6 years but back to home country. My parents never lived in the UK, though!

Oh okay so that doesn’t really apply then, heh!

Hmmm I guess our links are not going to help you much except for inspiration for similar thing you can get there...

Ninkaninus · 17/09/2019 13:32

Would they appreciate the opposite then? A hamper of things you can only get in the U.K. or some of the things you tried and liked while you lived here? That might be quite fun and different...

proseccoaficionado · 17/09/2019 13:43

@Ninkaninus the links are helping, I can find most of the stuff here❤️

For your mum - book her an appointment with a personal shopper and a voucher to spend. Or an appointment to have her colours done.

Is you dp going to be dh at any point? Someone on here dis a 1 day workshop where she and her fiance made wedding rings for each other.

Also retro tech for your dp, IWOOT do some fun stuff.

Pool all the money and book a week away somewhere you would all enjoy.

AnneKipanki · 17/09/2019 13:50

Nice wool tights from Wolford or Falke. ( Mum )

proseccoaficionado · 17/09/2019 13:52

@sashh great idea! Might get her a voucher for her favorite facial

We're actually getting married next year💍💍💍

For DP; an experience rather than more tech. How about a bungee jump?

BeanBag7 · 17/09/2019 18:19

Does your DH enjoy cars/driving? A track day is always a good one where he could drive a super car, or something a bit different like a tank. My husband isn't even into vehicles but would love this.

Fossil watch each (they do smart watches too)
Loccitane set (would suit all 3) or molton brown
Rituals advent or molton brown for dm
Fossil handbag / wallet (outlets)
Coach makeup bag or purse (thinking outlets)
Apple airpods or other wireless earphones

I definitely think experiences are the way to go for people who have pretty much everything they want.
