Annuals

I remember being stinkingly jealous of bffs Twinkle and Bunty annuals as a child. Somewhere around the point of realising that Mum and Dad buy the presents I decided future children would get similar annuals for Christmas.
A) are they still on the go?
B) Any suggestions for one suitable for an 18 mth old to begin the tradition? (I figured she was too young last year.)

I had to look on amazon. Brings back memories. Sorry I don’t know if they still sell them.

They seem to be more character orientated nowadays so you'll find lots of shimmer and shine, paw patrol, Peppa etc.

Argos usually do them and Poundland usually selling off last year's stock. I bought them for mine when they were younger but tbh there a bit of a waste as the stories aren't great and most pages are puzzles that are too difficult i.e. word searches, spot the difference with the odd colouring picture in between.

Love a good annual! CBeebies normally do a good one. Supermarkets will often sell them cheaply or on a multi buy offer.

Im getting 5 year old DD the numberblocks annual. As a pp said Cbeebies ones are good.

Loved an annual as a child.

Oooh I loved these as a teenager. Jackie, Patches, Blue Jeans and Just 17.

Also had the Grange Hill annuals.

Sorry OP - no suggestions from me! But thanks for bringing back good memories.

My mum bought me and my DSis the Dandy and Beano annuals every year. I now buy the Beano for DSS, he loves it and DSD loves reading it too.

I've always got mine annuals because I always had one with a stocking. I wanted mine to have a set each from age 1-12 to keep in their memory boxes, but this year had to throw some away due to a flood and as I've been trying to declutter I've realised it's probably not the best idea. They are never really that interested in them bar the odd one over the years and oldest DC doesn't want to keep theirs. You definitely can get annuals for Toddlers though, we've had Cbeebies, In the Night Garden, Bing, Something Special etc more traditional ones we've had you can still get are Beano, Dandy (even though Dandy comic isn't going anymore they usually do a Christmas special and an annual) and Rupert bear. This year is the first year I think I'm not going to bother with them. To the kids they are just a magazine without the toy.

There are loads of different ones available. To get them cheaper though, you can get last years ones. They still say 2019 on them as opposed to 2020 on this years ones but children are none the wiser.

When dc are young last year’s annuals can be picked up for pocket change and they have the current year on the cover.
