Which toys to avoid

Following on from the ‘which toys still get played with a year on’ thread, I thought it might be useful to have one for which toys were an absolute waste of money and why

For me it’s Thomas Trackmaster. What an absolute pile of crap. The track is fiddly to build, the trains constantly de-rail and the track falls apart constantly. Both my sons get really frustrated with it after 10 minutes.
If you must get the trackmaster, go on eBay and buy the old style track and trains- much more robust!

My son too loves his soft toys or plushies, as he calls them. Plays with them endlessly.

Chocolate coin maker
Lolly maker
Any other maker that's made out of cheap plastic

The only thing played with more than once is the pottery wheel

Cassian I kind of agree, I do think we started Playmobil too young, but they'd lost interest in small world by the time they were old enough the manage it so it was a big miss in our house.

A cheap scalextric track was pants. We got a few happy playdates out of fingerlings so they're ok in my book.

Oh so many!
Fingerlings - got played with for all of 2 minutes
Poopsie Unicorn - both DD's wanted one. Neither work properly. £100 down the drain. Same with the £10 smaller versions.
Hatchimal
Scruff a luv was another waste of money
Polly Pocket - both the big version and the smaller versions.

I'll go against the grain here - LOL is never a waste in our house. DD got the big surprise thing last year and 10 months on still plays with it. So as much as the price tag pained me its the one things she plays with consistently.

@posterFrancisCrawford are there? I had a look and couldn't see any for less than £50. If you spot any in the NW for that price would you send me the links? I would be forever grateful!

I also agree with the playmobil buildings - the vehicles are great but the police station and fire station just broke too easily. My eldest DS is a very careful child as well. Weirdly the Lego buildings were better, I think because they are easier for the kids to rebuild themselves or can rebuild to their own imagination?

Have to say my youngest DS loves hatchimals and plays with them still!
