Advent calander 14 yr old ds??

Any ideas for advent calander for 14 yr old boy? I'm getting Lego friends for dd age 6 and feel a bit mean just giving him a chocolate one.
He wouldn't really like a grooming type one, but I think the Lego ones might be a bit too young. Any ideas?

Ive got my 14 year old a yo-gi-o cards one. Is there anything he is particularly into ? Lots of Places do advent calendars now

Ohflippineck · 07/09/2019 20:05

You’re never too old for good chocolate. Our youngest is 16 and our 25 year old and her fiancé live in their own place. I still deliver a Lindt reindeer chocolate calendar to them on 30th November, and they still love them!

Chocolatecake12 · 07/09/2019 20:05

Lynx do one, not exactly grooming but I think it’s only a 12 day one.
Or a more special chocolate one such as Lindt or they do Reece’s peanut butter ones etc. Whatever he prefers.

My 14 year old daughter always wants a Friends calendar even though she is too old, but it’s like a tradition. My son doesn’t get one anymore.

Drum2018 · 07/09/2019 20:07

My 17, 15 and 7 yr old get Lidl chocolate advent calendars worth €1.99 each - never even considered an alternative 🤶

SunshineAngel · 07/09/2019 20:10

You can get really really nice chocolate ones. If you're worried, just ask him what he would prefer. Then he can pick :).

Unshriven · 07/09/2019 20:12

The Lego Harry Potter or Star Wars ones - even adults love them.

AE18 · 07/09/2019 20:16

What's wrong with just a chocolate one? That wouldn't have bothered me at all at that age, I didn't really have tv/film merch anymore and was more excited about fancy chocolate brands. Better chocolate in them, too.

purpleme12 · 07/09/2019 20:29

Pipandmum is there a Friends one??

Spingtrolls · 07/09/2019 20:44

Even with the gift ones I get chocolate ones.
There’s a lot of variety around including a different aftershave for each day. I got my youngest one and he loved it.
Have also done the trading cards and the calendar I got creative with cardboard.
Random items based on the child’s interests and treats. When I do those it’s tradition every year we go cinema, so I put their ticket in a slot. Sounds expensive but really isn’t - things like using the printer for pics. And stuff they will need anyway and free samples

There are marvel, Harry Potter and Fortnight funk ones. They are quite pricey though.

Noteventhebestdrummer · 07/09/2019 21:01

We have a different cheese each day in December for DS and mr, started when he was about 13. I buy 8 at a time and they get numbered in the cheese shop!

Stompythedinosaur · 07/09/2019 21:30

There's a Haynes one where you get the parts to build a radio I think. Chocolate might be a safer option.

sandyfoot · 07/09/2019 21:33

It's the beginning of September. You're over thinking this. Give them a chocolate one, why does everything have to be such a massive treat all the time 🙄

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/09/2019 21:52

My 19yo DS has a Malteaser one - his choice

DD (17) has a Beauty Advent that I make for her (this will be my third year and she requests it) I have bought 10 of the presents so far It does form part of her presents .
(She gets a small chocolate advent too, last few years was a Thorntons one , )

Never too old for a chocolate advent Xmas Grin

Rainbowx2 · 08/09/2019 01:49

Thanks for suggestions, Haynes radio one sounds good or maybe a lindt one. I don't think I'm overthinking it, just asking for any suggestions on a Christmas thread!

Maybe a nice personalised chocolate one from somewhere like Thorntons. If you didn't want to get chocolate one, what about one with his favourite sweets (seem to remember from last year there was a Skittles one, Haribo one, Swizzels one with lollies, chews etc.)

RJnomore1 · 08/09/2019 10:59

Marvel avengers funko pop?

There was a pringles one last year

Curious2468 · 08/09/2019 11:04

Pop figures ones are good

ErrolTheDragon · 08/09/2019 11:11

I wish I'd known about the Haynes radio, DD would have loved that.

For a few years I got her a big box of After Eight mints and wrote the dates on with a gold pen. This had the benefit that there were extras for me her to share with us.Grin

mumontherun14 · 08/09/2019 12:28

I've seen a Harry Potter one if he likes that? My 15 yr old prefers chocolate but was thinking of the HP one for DD 13 or the Friends one x

Macmaccat · 09/09/2019 06:53

My son is slightly older (17) but last year I wrapped up small gifts and put them in a sack fir him to have one a day. The gifts were basically chocolate bars (full size) mini Pringle pots and cans of pop, Irn bru, cherry coke etc! ( we live overseas so not all is easy to get so is a treat for him )

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 09/09/2019 12:49

What about socks?? I'm thinking of doing a sock one for myself this year!! Love socks. As long as you don't get too many Christmas themed ones they'll be useful after. I'm not sure if there is an actual sock one you can buy, but you could make one

I8toys · 09/09/2019 12:57

Macma - love the idea of a sack filled with stuff.
