Peppa Pig wooden house for main present?

DD is obsessed with all things Peppa Pig. The toys generally are really rubbish, crappy plastic but the dollhouse that's £100 is wooden. Has anyone ever had this and if so, is it worth the money? I can't find any reviews online.

We don't have it but I've just had a look at it and it does seem lovely, I love some of its interactive features. It is expensive and I'd be worried she might outgrow it, just from our own experience with our 3yr old granddaughter moving on from things so quickly. She was in to peppa, then waffle, then dougie and now its princesses and knights. She has the george asda dolls house and castle which we are really pleased with and she plays with loads adding the latest characters that's shes into to play in it. Definitely her most played with toys with the possibility of changing it to sylvanian house or LOL house (hopefully not) as she grows. I do like the look of the peppa house though.

I agree she'll outgrow Peppa really quickly. All it takes is new little friend at nursery or school declaring it's "for babies" and she decides she no longer wants to play with any of her Peppa stuff!

Something like a wooden dolls house should really last her til she's 6/7 imo and that's why I would always avoid the character ones. Same applies to things like train sets, pop up tents, anything really that without would otherwise have been happily used for a number of years. Of course the toy manufacturers know the child outgrows the character but not the actual toy iyswim so they're quite happy for you to pay £100 for the peppa one and then the same again for a LOL one, to soon be replaced by Barbie...

When mine were that age we limited the character tat to things like pajamas, colouring books, small stocking fillers. The dc got their fix of paw patrol/my little pony/peppa/Dora etc but without us spending silly money Smile.

People speak highly of the Asda wooden house, also the Aldi ones over that last few years plus I recall posters I think last year recommending Kidcraft which are quite large, kind of Barbie house size.

avocuddl · 02/09/2019 14:34

The dollhouse itself looks pretty average apart from the interactive features and I think £100 is a lot for something she'll probably grow out of.

I'd buy a normal dollhouse and then the peppa figures separately then when's she's grown out of peppa you can get normal dolls etc

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/09/2019 14:47

My dc like peppa up until age six as did their friends. I think you should get it.

crimbocheer · 02/09/2019 15:03

How funny I was just coming on to ask for a recommendation for a wooden dolls house for a 2/3 year old! My dd loves peppa, I didn't even know that was an option so off to google although it's a good point about potentially outgrowing it quicker

crimbocheer · 02/09/2019 15:09

@yestotwoplease thank-you, you have found dd's main present for me! I think she will outgrow this but not for a good few years and by that time I'm hoping a beautiful Victorian style dolls house will be required so I can enjoy playing with it too

yestotwoplease · 02/09/2019 15:35

I think that when DD outgrows it, her brother might possibly like it if he's into Peppa pig (which most kids are at some point). If not, and it only gets a year out of it, I'll put it on things for sale on Facebook or donate it to charity.

It would be easy enough to cover the Peppa pig logo at the top and use different figurines in it tbh anyway if she does outgrow it- looks lovely.

endofacentury · 02/09/2019 18:15

I would be more inclined to get a plain wooden house and they can always play with their peppa pig characters in it, but it will last longer than how long they like peppa.

PinkJam · 07/09/2019 19:49

@yestotwoplease DN has the house and it’s lovely. It’s a really good size and gets lots of play. I don’t think your DD will outgrow it for a while - and when she does she can still use other little figures in it Smile

Cherryrainbow · 08/09/2019 18:58

There's a wooden dolls house on the ikea website that looks really good x

Stompythedinosaur · 08/09/2019 23:54

I think that's a lot for a branded toy. I'd be tempted to put Peppa figures in a regular dolls house that she can use over a number of years.

BeanBag7 · 09/09/2019 13:58

How about buying a cheaper wooden dolls house. She wont be disappointed it's not peppa as she doesnt know a peppa house exists, she will just be excited about new dolls house.
Or you could even get a peppa play set of characters to go in it? Then if she grows out of peppa it can be used with whatever other dolls she would like.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 09/09/2019 16:00

It's the peppa pig theme which will date it/she'll grow out of. For the same price you can get the nice wooden ones from John Lewis which won't date and is something you could save for other children/grand children one day

Skyejuly · 11/09/2019 07:51

Mine have the asda dolls house and they use the peppa characters and sylvanians in that.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 11/09/2019 12:10

if you have the money go for it, my dd is 7 and still plays with paw patrol figures and the patroller truck which I winced at paying £65 for on her 3rd birthday.

no use buying a plain wooden one if it's all about Peppa pig, it will end up gathering dust. I bought a lovely plain one for dd1 she never played with it preferring the crappy plastic Peppa house that fell over continuously and always had bits falling off as it looked like the programme! better to buy what they actually want and will play with than a cheaper version that gets shoved in the corner and gathers dust.

besides Peppa is always in high demand second hand so easy to sell on once she's outgrown it. maybe if it's available on very you might be able to use one of their £30 off £60 spend voucher codes for new customers to get it a bit cheaper.

Curtainly · 07/11/2019 07:05

£48 on Amazon at the moment!

Ellieray · 08/11/2019 04:19

It's on sale in Argos atm and you can get an extra 20% of with code TOYS20 takes it to £48.

Just bought for my almost 2 yr old who loves peppa and her big sisters dolls house!! But I know my other kids will all have a play with it. My 4 yr old wouldn't watch peppa but she would play with the house!
