OK so they're back to school this week Grin.
Time to start thinking about Christmas I think. Little 2 will be a doddle but think I'm really going to struggle with eldest as she's at that stage where she seems to be too old for toys but not old enough for make up etc.

She's Harry Potter mad but has every Harry Potter thing I can think of, has a very small room so no option to buy room things as couldn't possibly fit anything more in there.

Not into make up or jewellery yet. Loves books but already has kindle unlimited so can just download what she wants. She got a cake pop maker/jewellery making sets/mermaid blanket last year.

Just bought her new trainers/backpack etc for going back to school.

Any recommendations of what your DDs of that age have loved would be appreciated for either presents or stocking fillers.

Your DD sounds similar to minw and the things that you have planned were the things that went down well with her last year. We bought her a hair dresser head and that went down well and is still played with. She has a collection of HP pops and will be getting some more for Christmas

This thread has been great for me...but what's a sprocket? I've googled it but I'm still none the wiser. Our girls are very different - she has requested Pandora charms, a James Charles pallet 🤷‍♀️ and an eyebrow kit (not a chance), but I'm loving all these stocking filler ideas. The slush machine is a fab idea!

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 22/09/2019 20:36

My DD is younger (7) and recently got into gymnastics. For Christmas we’re adding a gym bag - she’s picked one with her name in unicorn glitter writing and her clubs hoody - stuff that she will eventually need but fab for bulking out Christmas presents.

NotTheMrMenAgain · 26/09/2019 00:28

B&M has loads of Harry Potter stuff, including a talking Dobby soft toy that was so realistic it was a bit creepy!

Redshoeblueshoe · 26/09/2019 00:32

If she likes stationary Kenji has some cool stocking fillers

HollyBollyBooBoo · 26/09/2019 05:16

Is she into face masks/pampering sort of thing? My DD is just getting into them when she has sleepovers, I've bought a basket with a selection of face and hair masks in for £10.

"Unstable Unicorns" game.

The age advice on the box says 14+ which will ensure she doesn't think it's babyish but there is nothing in the game that is too complicated or unsuitable for an 11yo (there is an "extension" supplementary card pack which is NSFW and shouldn't be given to an under 15yo IMO}

Folding balance beam and gym mat

Ooh I didn't know this thread was still going, thank you for everyone's suggestions Smile

@alwayscauseastir a sprocket is a device you can plug into your phone and it prints little wallet sized photos out. I still havn't bought one as I'm waiting for black Friday but I know she'll love that so thank you to whoever suggested that one! I also went with the slush machine instead of popcorn maker as I think she'll use it more.

The unstable unicorns game sounds interesting will have a look, thanks

Which slush machine did you go for? I think my dd would love one.

@scittle it was this one

I liked the slush puppy one and the fizz creations but this had better reviews

If it helps, I've just bought myself a Canon ZoeMini which is the same as a Sprocket but wireless and cheaper

shannie · 27/09/2019 12:13

If you get the echo dot try and get a smart plug to go with it. Can then get Alexa to turn off lights, if that makes sense.
Sprocket - get extra paper it's expensive ( bitter experience Smile)

Lc2006 · 27/09/2019 13:07

Ooh I'll check that out thank you @comeonmommy and yes I was planning on ordering a stash of paper I expected her to to run out quickly Grin @shannie

I've just bought 50 sheets of sticky back photo paper for £21.99 from Amazon as needed papers quickly, but have been informed Argos often have them on 3 for 2 so I'm keeping an eye out and plan to stock up then

PhantomErik · 28/09/2019 11:06

My dd will be 11 just after Christmas and I'm planning:

Lego friends advent calendar
Christmas pyjamas

Ballet school hoodie
American girl 'lego' (actually by Mega Bloks) ballet studio & set of extra figures.
Pusheen bedding
Harry Potter 2 audio book
Nice stationery
Chillys bottle
Cup of pick 'n' mix
Book - possibly Artemis Fowl

From my parents, brother, sister & mil:

Lego friends gymnastics set
Lottie doll & outfit
Jaqueline Wilson annual
Board game (probably Labyrinth)

Also looking into the echo dot now but that may be for her birthday.

reluctantbrit · 28/09/2019 15:55

DD got a Bakedin subscription last birthday, you just have to buy any fresh ingredients, everything else is prepacked and measured.

A Fitbit style watch, last Christmas we got a Letsfit one.

Tickets for a play with just one of you instead the whole family

More grown up handbag and purse.

Lc2006 · 29/09/2019 07:47

That sounds like a lovely list @PhantomErik labyrinth is great we got that and ticket to ride last year based on recommendations on here and they are both good.

Mine wants the Lego movie maker to use with her Harry Potter Lego.

A friend of hers has a nomination bracelet - a bit like pandora charms but entirely flat and less obvious. A new picture for each link can be added for life events or achievements. So she’ll be getting one of those too!

Great ideas on this thread!

BillywilliamV · 29/09/2019 07:56

Rotating Disco ball and light for her bedroom, my girls loved theirs. Not wildly expensive either.

BillywilliamV · 29/09/2019 07:58

I love my nomination bracelet, and mine was free after I’d collected all the bits that the girls discarded when they got new charms. Collecting my own charms now and saving my spares for my niece.

dailyukelele · 29/09/2019 08:24

@BillywilliamV I just looked up the nomination bracket. Think it might be good for my nieces 10 & 13. I think I've exhausted stationary and even sent the 13 year old a makeup palette for her 13th bday.

Do I need to buy a tool for the charms ? And what size do your girls have? My nieces are abroad, so I won't be able to change things as will need to post to them. This makes it especially hard as I never really know if they like or use the things I get them Hmm

BillywilliamV · 29/09/2019 08:32

Our local shop sells the bracelets for £12 if you buy a charm, the charms start at £18. They are totally adjustable, though there is a trick to it as the charms are spring loaded.

Tickets to Harry Potter World
A fit bit / fitness tracker
New trainers / boots she loves
