DD will be turning one in December but I'm really struggling to think of present ideas, especially as she also has an older sister so we already have a lot of toddler toys! Just wondering if anyone had any gift suggestions or unusual gift ideas as I don't know how I'm going to think of enough things for Christmas and her birthday!

Thank you both! @sleepismysuperpower1 That looks great - don't have anything like that so I think she would enjoy that. @Ricekrispie22 Thank you for all of those suggestions! There's lots of things there I hadn't seen or thought of so that's really helpful.

That walker looks brilliant! I bet your older one will use it loads too!

Pixie2015 · 29/08/2019 21:09

Melissa and Doug latch board was a big hit in our house

sauchiehall · 29/08/2019 21:23

@TelephoneTree Yeah that's what I'm thinking - they'll both enjoy that! @Pixie2015 Oh thank you, think she would definitely enjoy that!

DS2 has his birthday the week before Christmas - we have an informal arrangement with DM/DSIS/DBRO etc that they get him birthday presents later into the next year - either "experience" things like tickets or actual gifts at Easter time
He's going to be 6 this year so a bit more "aware" so it might change to cash or tokens to hold off.
I already have his birthday party planned for early Dec to avoid a present overload (we are still in the whole class party stage)

HelC46 · 30/08/2019 18:52

My DD is January and when she was tiny I asked people to get toys for summer or for where she would be in 6 months time ditto clothes if that was the gift. She is 6 now. Last year didn't do the whole class party thing as the year before she still had stuff she hadn't looked at quite a while after. I think she just had so much in such a short space of time it was a bit overwhelming. That was whole class for 5th birthday. Not sure what she wants for next birthday. Birthdays close to Christmas are a pain, I should know it's mine the day after DD Grin

sauchiehall · 31/08/2019 07:40

@Chocolateteabag and @HelC46 thanks for your replies. I'm thinking that maybe experiences/clothes etc might be better for her birthday so I might suggest that if anyone asks for ideas.

My DS just turned one. He had a ride on Mickey Mouse train that was £45 in B&M. www.shopdisney.co.uk/mickey-mouse-ride-on-train-and-track-set-460048494702.html

He had some wooden blocks which went down well, a big set of Fisher Price Mega Bloks that he likes chewing on and bashing over if you build up.

He was given the In the Night Garden Ninky Nonk Train which has lots of bits he’ll use like shapes sorter, pull along, stacking cups.

His favourite toy however was a dinosaur that goes around the floor and changes direction when it hits things! direct.asda.com/george/toys-character/baby-toddler-toys/little-tikes-bump-n-go-dinosaur/050451107,default,pd.html

EdtheBear · 31/08/2019 18:32

Could you get away with re-gifting something that was your older children's?

I think I'd go with one gift for birthday, id suggest clothes etc for family to give.

sauchiehall · 31/08/2019 21:18

Thanks @Flamingo84 - I do like the look of the dinosaur and think DD would like that too!

@EdtheBear That's a good idea - might do that and save some money/space! Definitely think I'll ask family to get clothes etc rather than more toys.

I'm in exactly the same boat. I'm being 'mean' this year - dd2 is receiving a book from us for her bday and a toy for Xmas (probably the vtech alphabet bus) and that's it. However, she'll also receive a few things from family. L

Re pp - we were hoping to regift some of dd1's toys but dd1 has coincidentally mentioned the two we were planning on giving so I don't think this idea will work now (she's been looking for them this weekend!)

Thanks for pp suggestion of stiklebricks, dd1 doesn't have any so I might ask grandparents to buy some for dd2.

EdtheBear · 02/09/2019 11:17

My re-gifting idea got blown up too!
I said ages ago to DH to stick a ride-on in the loft out of sight as I was thinking of re-gifting. Did DH put it in the loft, No! What did DC2 come zooming out the garage on!

I'm back to the drawing boardHmm
