Hello all,

I am looking at starting a Christmas food stash and just wondered if anyone else does this and what items you get early ?

I try to fill a card (or 2) of the supermarket savings stamps with my loose coins over the year, to spend close to Christmas when all the special offers and bulk deals are available (the large jars of Hellman’s for the price of the medium size ones, for example), that we use anyway- to restock my larder then.

I haven’t done my clear out of the cupboards yet (it’s actually planned for next week), but I’ll make my list from that of what is low and start to build up slowly again for winter, including some Christmas treats.

I also start to gather a non-perishable weekly shop for a (theoretical) family with DCs when I see offers and general useful things (toiletries, Nappies, toothbrushes, washing powder and cleaning items etc, not just regular food and Christmas treats) - I give this to the Lions club for their annual appeal.

I darent buy early as it would be eaten or drunk. I am saving money on my co-op card and since we're having a smaller xmas this year i dont feel the pressure as much as previous years when we've been entertaining a dozen extra guests.
