Toy farm suggestions.

Hi, I would love some help with recommendations for a good toy farm for our grandaughter who will be 3 1/2 at Christmas. Last year we bought her Melissa and Doug take a long stable (small stable with 7 horses) and the matching horse play rug and a few schleich horses. We keep it at ours to play with as she stays over once a week and comes over quite a bit. It was a massive success and she hasn't tired of it (we've had fun with it too) and I can see it being played with for many years to come. So rather than buy her fad toys I'd like to expand play by adding a farm. I've bought a couple of schleich bits, but farm wise I'm not sure. It needs to be able to store away. I've looked at schleich, Melissa and Doug and playmobil and can't decide. Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

Also(and I’ll probably get flamed for this) but why can’t she bring it home? I wouldn't consider it a present for my little one if they had to leave it at the home of whoever gave it to them.
It’s just a toy you have at your house that she gets to play with.

I would personally go for Playmobil because you can keep adding to it at every occasion. Our Playmobil farm has diversified so it's now a campsite too, and sells its own icecream and produce! She'll play with Playmobil throughout her childhood whereas I think Melissa and Doug, as much as I love it, has less appeal for older children.

wow, the replys were quick, thank you. I love the is toy van one, and think it will last year's and can be past on, but want to be able to store it. Playmobil is one I keep looking at as there seems to be a lot to do, she loves small world play. chocolatefudgecake, that's a vallid point you raised, and I agree, I'd rather she took them home too. But my daughter and son in law downsized home last year to a small 2 bedroom to be closer to us and constantly battle to keep toys from ruling house. This year everyone has been forewarned less is more toy wise this year, and excess toys will be donated to charity. I was good last year and decided that as she was moving closer and we would help with childcare one night a week and two evenings around work that rather than cart toys around it would be nice to have toys already here that were special and easy to store. I grew up with divorced parents and my father wouldn't allow us to bring our toys home and I remember being resentful, so I get why you asked. She does have bits to take home, like clothes, bedding dressing up stuff etc.

Play mobile- it doesn't age and there is so much range you can add to the world.

I think it's fine to have toys at your house, my parents did and it keeps things fresh.

I’d also say Playmobil at that age.

We bought loads of Schleich stuff which my DSs lived, but it gets played with less since they have found Playmobil. I think if the had a Playmobil Farm it would integrate into what the other sets and still get used.
