What to buy my nearly 10 year daughter. I'm stuck on ideas some stuff I wonder is she to old for it. Her birthday is also 2 weeks after Christmas. She has an xbox & Laptop. And isn't really into toys. She will ask for them but they lie in there boxes. She loves teddies. But has to many.

All I can think of is a gaming chair and a bike. Other than clothes I'm clueless confused

She has the majority of that stuff but wants sure about hairdryer/ straighteners if she was old enough for them as I always do her hair. She has plenty of craft kits collection dust. I was looking at a Pandora ring for her to start a wee tradition of getting her one every year for Christmas there £50 but I don't no if she will be responsible enough to look after it when she out. Thank you for suggestions

Have any of her craft interests started to move towards a proper hobby (or can you give things a nudge)? I think craft kits can be a bit childish at this age, but if she develops an interest in, say, knitting or jewellery making then the materials can be a decent present.

With sports and active hobbies I’m happy to pay for basic clothes and equipment but anything fancier or branded comes as a present. My dd has her eye on a zuca ice skating bag at the moment.

Other than that there’s x-box games, books and dvds. I don’t think my dd would be ready yet for a hair straightener. She’s not quite into beauty products or make up either. I think she is getting to an age where she would appreciate stuff for her bedroom.

Dd enjoys making friendship bracelets, she got a set for her birthday and I topped it up with some more embroidery thread and she uses it for hours. She likes to sit with me and do them together although this is more because she is an only child than anything.

I also buy Dd things to go with her hobbies. She is a competitive swimmer and 10 soon so will be old enough to start scuba lessons. A pool in our nearby city does mermaid swim classes with a tail that your Dd may like I think many pools offer this now.

I wouldn’t bother with the Pandora bracelet it can become a very expensive gift to lose. I also wouldn’t get her straighteners as they are far too easy to burn yourself on even when you are an adult.

I started to look at tickets for experiences instead of stuff at this age.

We've done stage shows, cinema vouchers, concerts, Top Gear and passes for a favourite place with some money for them to spend whilst we're out.

@Singleandproud I don’t suppose you know what kind of friendship bracelet kit your daughter got? Dd would love one but I want a good one.

Singleandproud · 04/08/2019 23:23

It was a gift from a friend, tesco. The set has a handy clip and thread separater thing which is handy and some instructions. I had to watch some YouTube videos as I was never any good at them. I don’t know how it rates against other sets but DD likes it. Quite often her craft sets sit untouched.

She also got an origami book and paper which she also enjoys. I think
She says she find both activities relaxing and she likes the time we spend together doing them as she needs some guidance.

Thanks!

Dd got a point and shoot digital camera for her birthday (9)and absolutely loves it (excellent idea on a panicked thread I posted here). She can make videos with it and dh found her some editing software so she can muck about with the images on her laptop.
