Anyone been to this before? Is it worth the extortionate cost? Thinking for my 5.5 year old DS this year. Thanks.

HI OP I've never been myself but am watching with interest. Can you post a link to the place please?

escapade1234 · 03/08/2019 13:52

Oh it’s absolutely extortionate. Depends if you like manufactured “magic moments”. It all feels very cynical and is designed to remove you of your cash at every turn. There’s also a lot of walking involved. I suppose it’s meant to appeal to 5 year olds though, not their parents. The children did enjoy it. I guess I struggle to suspend my cynicism at these things.

Escapade does it actually feel magical though? Is it done well?? Or all a bit tacky and fake?

No, it doesn’t feel tacky at all.
It feels very realistic, certainly if you are under 6!

Yes, I think it well done and well organised. Elves and what not all very much in character and you are moved quite seamlessly through the proceedings with everyone sticking to the game and focusing on the children.

The finale is meeting Father Christmas and I do admit that that part was so well done that I did have a weird moment of feeling I was about to meet the actual Santa!

If you can afford it and it’s not too long a drive, then go for it. We did it with two under 6s and a newborn - and I forgot to take the Baby Bjorn carrier out of the car so had to carry the baby all day! Oops!

We went Christmas 2017 with our then 4 and 7 yr olds. It is really magical and they were both totally enthralled. We went about 4pm so it was mostly dark, which definitely added to the magic.

You can exchange cash for a pouch of jingles to spend in the village, which is a cute touch for the children, but you can use cards too.
Do make sure you take the time to personalise your visit on the website with info about your child as it was Santa asking my eldest son about his recent Ju jitsu grading that convinced him he was real!
It is eye-wateringly expensive but definitely the next best thing to real Lapland.

MumUndone · 04/08/2019 08:50

Oh, link doesn't work, sorry. It'll come up if you Google Lapland UK.

Thanks escapade and bs I think I'll try and get tickets when they open again, it's local to me and at least it's cheaper than actual Lapland!

We went although it was 2010 I think? Really bad snowy weather all over the country, which probably helped with the magic. We drove from Cheshire.
It was fabulous and my dc still talks about it.
Must admit I did get a bit lower lip trembly when we met Father Christmas because dc was totally convinced when he started asking her about how her granny's dog was.
One of our favourite family memories.

LittleMousewithcloggson · 10/08/2019 21:30

Mine loved it
Worth every penny in my opinion
Truly magical - especially if you go in the evening when it’s getting dark
David beckham and Elton John have both taken their children on more than one occasion so they obviously rate it too!
The look on my daughters face when Santa asked her to keep the cats (named them) out of the way at Christmas because he fell over them last time was priceless!

sharpstick · 10/08/2019 21:35

Do it!! We took ours at age 6 and 9 and they loved it. I’m so glad we went. It is expensive, but it’s definitely one of those once in a lifetime things. While they still believe, it’s magical to watch.

Beach11 · 10/08/2019 21:38

How much does it cost to go?

Fragalino · 11/08/2019 01:24

Op depends on the budget you have.

If your hard up, no.
We did the early bird 50 quid each and I felt that was about the right cost.
It was wondeful, the forest is beautiful, tall pine trees, spray snow, cute things to look at.
The rooms, the bell.

I will def go again the cheapest way I can when youngest who was 5 is older.

But only on cheapest.
I wouldn't say it was that much better than the longleat train... That was lovely to and we will probably do that again this year.

Hi
Does anyone know if there is a way to sell my Lapland Uk tickets for 2 Adults 2 kids? It’s for the 5th Dec but we can no longer make it 😢
