Can I have some suggestions for what is a good big toy present for an almost 2 yr old boy please? Something under £80 please and for indoors.
He already has a trike and a decent sized train set.
I'm stuck for ideas on what he's love at that age. I'd love to hear what your 2 yr olds loved playing with please.
Would he be too young for scooters and play kitchens?

We got our DS the Leap Frog Scoop and Learn ice cream cart last xmas when he was 2 - he is slightly ice cream obsessed and still loves playing with it after other presents were forgotten about long ago!

We are getting DD who will have just turned 2 a play kitchen.
Agree with pp about cosy coupe and ice cream cart, she has both and plays with them all the time!

Looking4wards · 25/07/2019 21:40

All 3 of mine have completely ignored our toy kitchen.
Oh no and i was all set on toy kitchen after the previous posts.

He's not really showing interest in playing with any toys at the moment. He 'plays' with his toys by chewing them and throwing them around tand hitting things with them Confused

Am I wasting my money getting him a new toy or is it because I haven't got the right ones for him so far?

I was going to say a toy kitchen too! We have the Ikea one. It still gets used by my dc now who are 6 and 8.

I think the secret is to have some really good toy food and accessories to go with it. We have quite a bit of the Melissa and Doug cutable food (the pizza and birthday cake are popular).

Another option would be a toy shop, again ours is still used now.

My daughter was 21 month on her second Christmas. She got the Ikea kitchen. 5 years later still very much loved and going strong. As she's got older we've got extra bits n bobs for it too

If he likes hitting with toys he might like the hammer workbench from ikea. Don't underestimate him, get some toys you think he might not understand and he might surprise you. Ask nursery what he likes to play with there. You need to have the toys in to give him a chance to get to use them and get to like them if you see what I mean. Maybe start with a tea set if you're not sure if he will like the kitchen. The Melissa and Doug doorbell house is good for the start of imaginary play too.

We got a toy kitchen for my DS' second birthday. He loved it, never seen him so excited and barely a day goes past now (6 months on) when he doesn't play in 'mine kitchen'

Forgot to say, it was the Ikea kitchen. Takes a long time to put together (well, for me it did anyway!) but worth it!

It’s July! Biscuit

I would wait until closer to Christmas before you decide as you might see particular interests start to emerge. Around 2.5 is when my son became obsessed with cars and transport. He played with the toy kitchen a bit before that but once we got into transport there was no going back really.

Toy kitchen or a Mini-Micro scooter. My eldest received both for his second birthday and they are still being used by my younger child five years on.

Herat1986 · 09/08/2019 15:26

My one year old already loves his sisters wooden play kitchen!

Shufflebumnessie · 15/08/2019 17:09

DS adored the Toot Toot items that he got for Christmas when he was 2.

fuckwitseverywhere · 15/08/2019 17:40

Cosy coupe got a lot of use
Garage and cars, don't get toot toot, they're so annoying!
The little tykes transporter still gets used at almost 4
Duplo?

I know this thread is a bit old. Just to add if you do get a toy kitchen then you'll get overly wooden food from Aldi in their pre Christmas wooden toy sale
