Stocking fillers - what worked?

Hi,

I'm just starting my planning for next Christmas - I try to do stockings throughout the year. I've got two kids ( 3 and 6) so looking for ideas for next Christmas. Anybody want to share stocking successes for various ages?

For all of mine, torches were the big hit. I got each of them a Natural History Museum one, so they can project images of animals and sea creatures onto the wall. They love them. The oldest got a small Lego set as well, which he loved. The youngest liked her hair clips.

Any other good buys? Obviously particularly looking for ideas for four year old girls and seven year old boys.....

Mine all had versions of the same thing in theirs:

A book
Parcel of fun socks
Parcel of underwear
Bubbles (always a winner!)
Blind Bag
Small Toy
Snack
Drink

I think that's it. Mine LOVE their stockings, their excitement it so obvious and I like that none of the things in there are just throw away in a day kind of stuff.

12yo got:

Big hits - Christmas activity books and fancy pen, Polly pockets and chocolate oranges

Less popular: torches, bath sponges, bubble bath

A simple £2 yo-yo from Waterstones has unbelievably had as much attention as Fifa 19

Harry Potter pens and a mini Simon were hits here.
I always get them an annual, chocolate, shower gel and some pens. I try not to get too much tatt or deviate from the norm.

The biggest hit was a last minute pair of small "in ear" headphones for DD's new phone - DH found them in a drawer and added them in. They were plugged in and buds hanging over the top of her sweatshirt (ready to put in her ears) as soon as she was dressed like a totally cool teenager!

She also liked a set of RNLI wellie shaped rechargeable handwarmers.

Santa forgot to bring underwear this year, so I have been asked to acquire these.....although he did bring some socks (just as well as she outgrew everything this autumn!).

My DS (4) was over the moon with a big boy wallet (a Disney Cars one). He was talking about it at breakfast and said that and his Heelys were the best present ever.

Dd (8) enjoyed a grow your own crystal kit from the science museum.

Thanks Ipswichwitch I've got a couple of quid left on a Sainsbury's gift card so will have a nip in next time I head to town and see if I can find any :)

I panic bought a pre-filled stocking for a teenage girl for £20 from Hawkins Bazaar as I was running out of time. I figured it would probably be crap but it was really good and she loved it and will def do that again
