Quality Street plastic tubs

Hello.
If your local authority do not recycle these tubs 😩 you can send them back to Nestles 👍. Just stick a label on the tub and send it back to FREEPOST NESTLES UK CUSTOMERS SERVICES. Maybe next year they will rethink their packaging. 😁

Why would they not be recycled like normal ? Are they some weird type of plastic?

2019rubberband · 01/01/2019 09:57

Is this a one person crusade to encourage people to send them back, are quality street genuinely receiving them?

A link would be ideal please?

TroysMammy · 01/01/2019 10:00

Don't buy them in the first place. Out of Quality Street, Celebrations, Heroes and Roses, Quality Street are the worst.

thedevilinablackdress · 01/01/2019 10:01

@Squeezle a lot of LAs only recycle a very limited range of plastic types.

Hilsy42 · 01/01/2019 10:18

I’ve been in touch with Nestles as my local authority do not recycle this plastic and so it would just go into landfill. Nestles have said that we can send them back to them FREEPOST

Again, please provide a link?

NextIssue · 01/01/2019 10:30

Nestles?

2019rubberband · 01/01/2019 10:41

Repeating your post Disney make this any more valid.

Provide a link or similar that shows nestle are inviting people to do this.

Otherwise stop trying to encourage people to jump on your bandwagon.

2019rubberband · 01/01/2019 10:41

*doesnt

Hilsy42 · 01/01/2019 10:47

I can’t provide a link because I sent them an email and they responded to it. If you look on the back of the tub there is an email address which I wrote to and they responded very quickl.

So basically you want lots of random people to join you in sending tubs back to quality street to make a point? There is no press release or anything on their website suggesting this.

Just be clear in your OP of what you are asking. People need to know. You are asking others to send tubs to quality street because you personally think that's a good way to show them they should be recyclable. Have you even read anything regarding nestle and their recycling policy?

As an aside, what exactly do you think quality street do with the tub you return?

User12345677777 · 01/01/2019 10:55

What exactly do nestle do with them once returned?!

concernedforthefuture · 01/01/2019 10:56

Our LA don't recycle this type of plastic (bottles only).
Just wondering what Nestlé do with them? Because if they just dump them, then sending them back is even worse for the environment due to the fuel used in transportation... however it may serve to send a message that a different form of packaging would be preferable.
I don't buy them anymore anyway (palm oil).

planespotting · 01/01/2019 10:57

Didn't people do something like this with Crisp packets and Royal Mail had lots of issues
Just don't buy them.
Reduce, reuse, recycle
In that order.
You want to speak up as a customer? Speak through your money

Only language companies like Nestle understand anyway

Hezz · 01/01/2019 10:59

Don't you lot still boycott Nestlès? Surely it's not just me and my friends who won't buy their products.

HaudYerWheestHen · 01/01/2019 11:03

Does anyone ever throw these tubs away? Where do you keep your sewing kits and baked goods? Wink

But really, they should be recyclable. I'm becoming more and more aware each day if the endless mountain of plastics I use and just bin to landfill. Kitchen sponges, toothbrushes and even cling film are shit for the environment. If Nestle are taking tubs back, they should issue a press release and let us know. But even then, what a huge carbon footprint transporting rubbish back to them.

Slippersandacuppa · 01/01/2019 11:03

Hezz I’m with you. Don’t buy anything of theirs, including all the hidden ones (sneaky). Nespresso etc.

planespotting · 01/01/2019 11:31

@Hezz
I do.

DeepIn40 · 01/01/2019 18:40

Wow and @Hilsy42 you've also revived a zombie thread to post the same.... Hmm

Windgate · 01/01/2019 18:52

I wish manufacturers would go back to tins. They are great for storing cakes, sewing kit, tools, lego etc etc
