Dd (15) just said that her favourite part of Christmas is that on Christmas Eve I make her a ‘proper’ hot chocolate with hot milk and chocolate flakes instead of hot water. I asked why she didn’t make it like that herself and she replied that she looks forward to it all year as it’s special.

What little things do you look forward to that make your Christmas special?

(For me it’s the Christmas dinner sandwich I make the next day)

Bubble and squeak on Boxing Day with all the leftover veg and stuffing fried up. Better than Christmas dinner.

Oh I love a bit of bubble 😍

Have you tried putting bacon lardons in yours? It’s delicious!

Mince pies and cream for breakfast.
Bubble and squeak.
Having nuts and snacks all laid out on a table to eat at leisure.

Dd mentioned being excited to read twas the night before Christmas and recited most of the book. We always read it Christmas eve, and never any other day. Didn't realise it meant that much too her!! Lovely.

We live in the US and there are a few areas where the whole street goes all out with decorations and is referred to as a candy cane lane, I love love love driving or waking through them with the children

Boxing Day meal. There's nothing better than a big wedge of cold ham, piccalilli and a pickled egg chaser.

When dh and fil wash up after Xmas lunch and I lay on the sofa. Grin

@Bogiesaremyonlyfriend my sister bought me a copy when I was 4 and my mum read it to me every year (even as an adult). When she died I still read it every Xmas eve and now, I read from the same book to my two dds. I still hear my mum's voice reading it to me in my head. Ahem ^^

Just full on ugly cried over a tub of jelly beans.

When I was little my mum and dad would always get me some Jelly Belly's from Harrods. They were so expensive and special and I loved them.

My father in law just gave me a huge tub of them from Costco. The first time I've received them since my mum died ten years ago.

Full on ugly crying.
