I got up early to get my red cabbage made and in the slow cooker, potatoes are in the oven part roasting and my sprouts and carrots are prepped and in the fridge.

Who else is starting early?

Ham x 2 waiting to go in the oven, beef with ginger and soy in there at the moment (for boxing day). We baked loads yesterday.

BestIsWest · 24/12/2018 11:32

Gammon is simmering, parsnips and carrots peeled. I’m having a break before tackling more veg.

poshredrose · 24/12/2018 12:21

Treacle I think that would work, just call then smashed potatoes if still a bit lumpy.
I must admit I buy frozen mash, can't stand making my own

Cranberry sauce made and ham roasting in the oven.

BestIsWest · 24/12/2018 12:31

I might do that with my swede. It’s already been cooked and frozen.

BestIsWest · 24/12/2018 12:34

DH has just gone into the kitchen to make the stuffing. It will be ‘performance stuffing’ as DD says. I’m staying well clear.

Justgivemesomepeace · 24/12/2018 12:34

Ham in the slow cooker, home made sausage rolls in the oven for lunch, ready for ds and dp getting back from the park. Buffet for family after christingle later but there's not too much cooking involved.

mildshock · 24/12/2018 12:39

My ham is cooling and will go in the oven after it's been glazed.

I part roasted my potatoes last night, now in the fridge and I'll crisp them up tomorrow while the turkey is resting. Cauliflower cheese is part done, and will be finished off alongside the potatoes.

I'll part-do my roast parsnips and carrots tonight.

This is the first year I've been organised, so I'm pretty pleased with myself Smile

GarbageBell · 24/12/2018 12:46

My turkey is resting now and everything else is in the oven. We have our big dinner today and then tomorrow is leftovers/nibbly bits. The kids always get so hyped tomorrow they don’t want to sit down to eat and I don’t want to spend all day in the kitchen

Disfordarkchocolate · 24/12/2018 12:51

I did gravy yesterday. So far today I've done the carrots, parsnips and swede, potatoes later. Tomorrow will be fairly chilled I hope.

TheNativityDonkey · 24/12/2018 12:57

I'm halfway through making my trifle, Dd is preparing the veg, i've made another bstch cranberry sauce this morning - made some yesterday but then realised I needed mire for Christmas Meat loaf.

I'm currently having a cuppa whilst waiting for the custard and cranberry sauce to cool.

This afternoon Terence our Turkey will be butter stuffed and dressed with bacon and put in the roastng tin all trussed up foil so all i neef to fo is chuck him in the oven first thing tomorrow. At the same time I'll prepare the Meatloaf and 24 large pigs in blankets.

NuzzleandScratch · 24/12/2018 13:01

Another one doing the red cabbage! In the oven though, rather than slow cooker. Delia recipe, delicious!

mrsdaz · 24/12/2018 13:20

I’ve had beef in the slow cooker all day ready to slice and re-heat in the oven in the morning with the turkey. Everything else is made and ready in foil trays to just throw in the oven. I’ve bought ready made mash. Only one of us really has it so it’s easier to buy a little pot.

Sexnotgender · 24/12/2018 13:24

Not cooking but prepping. I'm 36 weeks pregnant so standing for too long hurts my back, prepping everything I can today so cooking tomorrow is less painful.

I've prepped the sprouts, will sauté them tomorrow in butter, garlic, chilli and lemon
Potatoes are peeled to make roast potatoes
Pigs are wrapped in their blankets
Turkey is defrosting
Need to chop the cauliflower for the Alfredo, might grate the Parmesan too and pop it in a Tupperware.

mumof2sarah · 24/12/2018 13:27

I've just called in my mums and it smells like Christmas, Turkeys and gammon is cooking, the fresh veg is all being prepped, I came home hungry ha ha x

BooHasAPressieForYou · 24/12/2018 13:30

Yep.
Turkey was crowned, stuffed and herb buttered in the oven on 50 by 10am. Gravy has now been transferred from my huge cauldron pot to the biggest normal pot with onion, carrots and the wings and giblets of the turkey on low. I've made the Oreo ice cream for the kids after and the Mary Rose sauce for our prawn cocktail.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 24/12/2018 13:31

We’re doing the trifle and the ham today, and parboiling the potatoes. Everything else will be done tomorrow, but there are only four of us to cook for so it’s no hardship really.

Insomnibrat · 24/12/2018 13:31

Snausage rolls for everyone working Christmas Eve. Grin

Who else is cooking already?
cheesenpickles · 24/12/2018 13:34

Me! I've made the sprouts and bacon ready to reheat tomorrow. Gammon is cooked. Sausage meat stuffing done. I've made the herb butter and prepped the turkey crowd. Peeled and chopped the potatoes, going to have our traditional Xmas Eve KFC and then I'll parboil them and fluff em before I shove them in the fridge.

Nice and chilled cooking tomorrow then. Grin

WWYDhelpplease · 24/12/2018 13:37

Gammon is cooking. Once done that’s all today but I have family coming at 4 for tea. Gammon will be glazed tomorrow.

keepondreaming · 24/12/2018 13:40

Sausage rolls done (first batch anyway, they'll soon be devoured, especially when hot)

Gammon roasting in oven covered in honey, sugar and orange juice.

Was going to start in pigs in blanket but have a dilemma as sausages frozen (made a separate post) as I'm not sure how whether to cook frozen with fresh bacon or defrost first or part cook then wrap bacon and cook.

bringbacksideburns · 24/12/2018 14:12

All sounds wonderful. Very Pry Leith.

But by god if there was a Middle class Klaxon around here I'd be using it Grin

BrokenWing · 24/12/2018 15:02

Everyone who is cooking their ham today, does it stay moist for tomorrow? How do you reheat or do you serve cold?

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 24/12/2018 15:23

It stays lovely and moist. We eat some on the day when it comes out of the oven and then serve the rest cold but you could reheat slices in hot water, I suppose. We wouldn’t because we do ours with a marmalade glaze. I guess if we wanted it warm we would re heat very gently in the oven on a low temp.
