This is the first of probably a few questions!
I'm planning on parboiling my roast potatoes, possibly even the day before to save time. Now, if I do that (silly question part) what do I do with the potatoes? Once they are parboiled I mean?
What do I do with them overnight? I've never pre prepared much before

  1. Leave to cool
  2. Put in tray covered in cling film
  3. Leave in fridge overnight
  4. Add to hot fat in oven when required
  5. Cook for approx 1hr or until brown and crispy

I'd pop them in the fridge in a tupperware then bring them up to room temperature before roasting. They won't take long to par boil on the day though and it'll save on fridge space.

Ah that all sounds more like it. I was told to do it and leave them in the water overnight but I thought that sounded like they would go very soggy.

Ok. I think I have another question.
I have a frozen turkey crown that's been thawing in the fridge since yesterday morning, supposedly takes 48 hours.
To me it still seems very cold and I'm cooking it tomorrow evening due to tiny oven space on the day.
Do I risk taking it out of the fridge tomorrow morning to help it along if needed or will that be a bacteria fest?

You peel the potatoes and leave in water, they perhaps misunderstood.

If you have a cool room, you could put the crown there. Then stick it back in the fridge overnight, if it has fully thawed.

Are you sure it needs defrosting? Some cook from frozen.

Yes it's definitely one that needs thawing. It's going pretty soft now so hopefully overnight will do the trick
