Christmas turkey use by date

Hi

Is every Christmas turkey's use by date 26 December?

I really dont like buying meat with such a short use by date.

I sniff all meat I buy and if it smells in the slightest, I chuck it.

Im worried that my turkey might smell and then we'll have no meat.

Would it be OK to open the packaging on CHristmas EVe to sniff it and then cook it the next day?

xx

In my experience the dates are always 26 Dec. Best year was when i kept waiting for a longer date. In and out of several supermarkets, no luck, but the wait gave me the chance of getting a half price one.

The date is 26th not sure why you are worried?

Hi

I just worry incase it smells and then I'll throw it out and we wont have turkey.

There were lots of issues last year when people had rotten turkeys. I recall seeing it in the newspaper.

Honestly, there's no need to worry. It'll be absolutely fine to eat as long as it's been in the fridge. But if you want to open the packaging on the 24th to check, it'll still be fine the next day.

We get ours from the farm. Collect tomorrow. No use by date etc. Just nose to sniff test with.

Sure it will be fine.
