Or somewhere else? Hoping to buy most things tomorrow and have both near me that are quite big.
Which is the better choice in your opinion?

I do all my food shopping at Aldi throughout the year and my Xmas food will be from there too! I love Aldi!

HowlsMovingBungalow · 19/12/2018 18:55

Aldi for me, has more choice imo.

Ribs of beef are instore from 21st!

Aldi for me too. We shop at both Lidl and Aldi as I pass one on my way home from work and my husband the other. We both loved Aldi's Christmas food last year so we're getting it all from there this year.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 19/12/2018 19:02

Aldi for me as well. I will gladly shop at Aldi for a full week shop but other than the fresh bread and cakes I find Lidl rubbish. Also more expensive.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 19/12/2018 19:32

Depends on the store but Lidl for me every time.

Angelinthenight · 19/12/2018 19:34

Aldi is the best id say too, i dont like lidl i dont know why tho just maybe the stock is better in Aldi doesnt seem that your shopping in a cheap store.

Whatififall · 19/12/2018 19:35

My closest Lidl has a better Christmas selection than the Aldi does so Lidl for me

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 19/12/2018 19:39

There’s not a huge difference but Lidl if you want baileys. The Aldi one is foul.

rabbitfoodadvocate · 19/12/2018 19:45

Aldi! Bloody good selection, even for us vegans!

EssentialHummus · 19/12/2018 19:49

Other than Aldi having better stollen and Lidl having cheaper champagne there's not much in it IMO.

XiCi · 19/12/2018 19:55

I think Lidls Xmas stuff is lovely this year but I do plan to have a nose round Aldi as well. I think in general Lidl is better quality but not much in it

millimat · 19/12/2018 19:56

Ooh I thought aldi was going to be a total win at first. Thanks for your replies. There's obv not much in it from what you say. I'll see which way the car goes Grin

Which has veg that lasts longer though totally depends where you are. Around us it’s Lidl hands down.

Lidl wins hands down on that one. I was always having to bin Aldi fruit and veg after a day or two because it was rotten. Won't buy it from there any more for that reason

Thisisthebadplace · 19/12/2018 21:53

I shop in Aldi every week. So Aldi. Or alternatively half Aldi half Lidl?

Cherries101 · 19/12/2018 21:53

A combination of costco offers (7 kilos of potatoes for £2.99, 3 kilos of onions for £3, 24 free range eggs for approx 2.65, tinned veg), Iceland (for turkey and any frozen veg), and Waitrose (fresh veg).

Alanamackree · 19/12/2018 22:54

I’ve found lidl’s veg lasts suspiciously long so I prefer to buy Aldi’s.

Cherries101 · 19/12/2018 23:35

@Alanamackree - lidl get a lot of veg from costco.

millimat · 20/12/2018 11:35

So I went to aldi as it's slightly closer and bought absolutely everything I needed with great dates. Result Xmas Wink

Spent significantly less than I did in Morrisons last year as well.
