Breakfast on Christmas day - just the 3 of us

Any suggestion on what to make for breakfast on Christmas day? It was be nice to have something a bit special, but not something that will keep us in the kitchen. It's just the 3 of us this year (Me, DH and DC) so doesn't need to be overly fancy. I was thinking of potentially doing cinnamon buns which I could just heat up in the morning? Or breakfast sandwiches?

Mcvities toasting waffles with raspberries and white chocolate sauce
Banana/strawberry and chocolate spread toasted sandwiches made with brioche. My DH likes peanut butter as well in his and I add desiccated coconut.
Smoked salmon and cream cheese/scrambled egg bagels
Crepes
Pain au chocolat
Brioche French toast

It's just the three of us for breakfast this year (we're traipsing to mil's for Christmas dinner).

We're having a big fry up, but mostly done in the oven, so sausages, bacon and hash browns in the oven, then fried mushrooms and fried eggs, beans and some toast.

We lay out the stuff on the baking tray the night before (minus the bacon), cling film and shove in the fridge.

Then Christmas morning is just a case of shoving the tray in the oven while we have a brew /dc opens a couple of presents and ten minutes in the kitchen to heat up some beans/fry a couple of eggs/make some toast.

It does result in feeling pretty stuffed for most of the day with Christmas dinner on top but we usually have that around 5pm so it works out alright

Smoked salmon and cream cheese on bagels or blinis, with either bucks fizz or champagne.

IShitChristmasGlitter · 16/12/2018 12:33

chocolate coated waffles with strawberries and chocolate sauce maybe sprinkles ontop or marshmallows or with large scotch pancakes.

Christmas tree crumpets

Bacon butties on posh bread

Poached eggs on sour dough.

boiled eggs and soilders

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 16/12/2018 12:40

We’re having bacon & cheese muffins Grin

BurningTheToast · 16/12/2018 12:43

Nigella Lawson has a recipe for Christmas morning muffins that I make every year. Mix the dry stuff the night before and then bung the liquid in in the morning.

Hopefully this link will work...

@ladylapsang we are having that too - no prep, no dirtying of essential cooking trays but certainly not our usual brekkie food!

Threeminis · 16/12/2018 12:59

I've got park baked baguettes and I'm planning on salmon, scrambled eggs and bacon.
Dh and I will definitely drink some bubbles too

Lozz22 · 16/12/2018 15:47

I feel a bit jealous of all these nice breakfasts that everyone's planning. Mine will just be a slice of toast and a cup of tea as I run out the door for a 7am start and a 15 hour shift

pollyname · 16/12/2018 16:02

Thank you for the ideas! I've just remembered Ive gotten DS an egg cup for his stocking so may go with boiled eggs and a few other bits (sausages) in the oven

We are going to have pancakes (I'll make the mix in advance).

AlwaysPottering · 16/12/2018 23:20

Only breakfast for Christmas morning should be a selection box Grin

MeetOnTheSIedge · 16/12/2018 23:23

I make cinnamon buns on Christmas Eve, leave them somewhere cool to rise overnight and bake in the morning, together with cook-from-frozen croissants and pain au chocolat. None of us are big fans of cooked breakfasts.

pinklemonade84 · 16/12/2018 23:26

We’re having bacon baguettes (sandwiches for dd as the bread will be softer)

I’m going to get some part baked baguettes to warm in the oven and some nice bacon to keep us ticking over

Soggiemoggie · 17/12/2018 00:08

A big fruit salad, waffles or pancakes (with all the trimmings), probably some warm croissants/pastries as well. Yum Grin

caperplips · 17/12/2018 11:41

Also just the three of us and we will either have a full cooked breakfast or pancakes with crispy bacon & maple syrup, with lots of fresh orange juice, several pots of real coffee and a bottle of champagne and dd will be allowed a small glass of it.

We don't eat dinner till about 7pm so a good brunch is essential

agedknees · 17/12/2018 20:50

Eggs benedict - takes me no trouble. (Ok my dh makes them).

Taffeta · 18/12/2018 09:08

Some years the DC make a Kringle and we have that, warm from the oven
This year will be toasted panettone with butter and juice & fresh coffee. Perhaps a boiled egg and toast.
DC mainly eat stocking chocolate in the morning!

BiddyPop · 18/12/2018 09:32

Freshly squeezed orange juice.

Cafetiere of coffee.

Either some frozen M&S pastries or Jus Rol pastries rolled out and baked.

Potentially some fresh berries and yoghurt in a bowl for those interested - just taken from fridge and nothing done to them.

There will be naice sourdough bread leftover from 24th, for toast. And anyone still hungry can eat chocolate. Or make their own bacon, eggs, smoked salmon or whatever (but makes enough for the other 2 as well).

This is for DH, DD (13) and I - pretty simple, but if anyone wants more, it's easy to do.

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 18/12/2018 17:58

We just have christmas tree crumpets, pain au chocolat & fruit toast with orange juice / tea / hot chocolate and ferrerro rocher

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 18/12/2018 17:59

Or toasted panettone
