Would you give this to a four year old?

Bought on a 3 for 2, when I got home and took the sticker off I noticed it says 7+ years. Would it really damage 4 year old's nails? Should I return it or go ahead and give as a gift?

Once I got the ok from their parents fine. I wouls be more worried about spills rather than nail damage to be honest.

Scrumptiousbears · 15/12/2018 21:55

My 4 year old would love it

Cheesycheesytwist · 15/12/2018 22:00

No, but not because of the 7+ thing, I just don't buy my DD year sparkly princess stuff

livingthegoodlife · 15/12/2018 22:02

Someone bought my five year old this set. I wasn't keen and discreetly hid it away. I'm not happy for little girls to use what I consider to be adult style products. If the parents are ok with it then, fine.

No, I think nail polish is not for 4 years old. DD had it occasionally with water based one when she was 5-6. But then I do not wear it so DD didn’t really see it as something normal.

If you intend it as a gift I would check with the parents and don’t be offended if they don’t want it.

No, don't risk it for someone else's child. Put it by in a drawer, somewhere cool, and it can be at a later date for someone else.

AppleKatie · 15/12/2018 22:09

No I wouldn’t.

I don’t think nail polish is as interesting as other toys out there and I don’t think it’s appropriate for a young child.

It’s also controversial- some will be fine won’t it others absolutely wouldn’t so I wouldn’t risk it as a gift.

I got something similar for dd2 for her 4th birthday recently. Never understood the fuss about nail varnish.

BrokenWing · 16/12/2018 09:44

I wouldnt give to a 4 yr old. To young for nail polish and plenty of more appropriate gifts.

Jammiebammie · 16/12/2018 11:21

We had ‘piggy paint’ for my dds when they were really small, it was all natural water based polish and made me feel a bit better, but in all honesty it didn’t last long before they were using my normal polish.

I would perhaps get for my own dd at 4, but wouldn’t gift to another child unless I checked with their parents first.

Thanks all!

Yeah. It's only a bit of nail polish. 4 year old live to be creative so I think it's great.

Ethel36 · 16/12/2018 21:15

I learned this the hard way. No I would not give this to a four year old. It will go everywhere and the girls parents will not be pleased! Age 7 is just right. Those peelable ones are great however. You can buy those from JML/amazon.

HairyToity · 16/12/2018 21:41

Personally I don't buy my child nail varnish. I don't like to place emphasis on looks.
