Mum mid 70s dresses well .. needs nothing! Likes crafts is v good at knitting etc. Likes reading but not kindle, likes jigsaws, birds, gardening, grandson

Possilbly makeup stuff or mirror as struggles to see to put makeup on

Dad .. late 70s .. loves jazz, steam trains, transport, grandson, food, real ale,

I quite fancy experiences as they make memories rather than things

Any ideas?

Thanks

My mum is 69 - she chose a grey & pink scarf from Accessorize for me to give her. Also I've bought her the 'Being Michelle Obama' book.

My dad is 71 - I got him a charcoal grey scarf from M&S as he needs a scarf.
Also got him the boots no7 face cream that he uses.

I need to get them both something else worth a tenner I think.

My auntie & uncle are early 70s. Got auntie a pair of sterling silver & cubic zirconia earrings from Accessorize.
Got uncle a pack of 3 miniature single malt whiskies.

my mum is terribly difficult to buy for (very picky about clothes, doesn't drink or eat chocolate, very picky about toiletries, doesn't like dust collecting ornaments)

Me and my sister have bought her a dovecote for her garden between us. (she loves watching birds in the garden)

My mum is 60. I got her a nice pair of shoes from a brand that doesn't hurt her feet and i'm thinking of getting her a special bag for her knitting needles, yarn, scissors and accesories she uses to knit. There are wome very lovely patchwork bags.

For my dad i'm getting a travel bag that can fit in all airplanes so he can travel without having to pay extra to send his bags. I also got him a nerdy mousepad with spaceships from all his beloved sci-fi movies and series.

Not an experience- it is the ultimate tat. Afternoon tea is hell on earth. Might as well burn £10 notes.

Mine are the same age, I have got Harris gin, whisky, wine, a longchamp bag, l'occitane toiletries, beer hawk beer.

My DDad mentioned recently that he had lost contact with his cousins years ago and how much he regrets it. I have paid for three nights at a premier inn so they can have a reunion. His sister is going to go and is helping me arrange it.

I have also bought them chocolate, a magnetic bookmark and a puzzle book.

MadisonAvenue · 14/12/2018 22:35

Mine are in their 80s and don't really have any interests apart from watching TV so are very difficult to buy for. I've bought my Mom a Yankee candle and a bottle of whisky for my Dad.

There's a very strong and overpowering perfume which my mother in law has worn since the 1980s, it's an American one and isn't easy to get here but I got her a bottle when I was over there a few months ago. Our sons are disgusted that we've bought her that as they hate the smell of it.

Dad and H box from Hotel Chocolat and Mum a Hyacinth pot and wine from Marks

Bumbumtaloo · 14/12/2018 23:25

DM - money for holiday, Joules top (from the ebay outlet) slippers, dove bath set (standing joke) and marzipan fruits

DSF - money for holiday, nightshirt and a wallet ninja

DF - a stand for his Apple Watch (he lives in Canada and we only exchange token gifts)

DSM - leather gloves

MIL - handbag, Yankee tealights, tealight holders, amazon voucher and a Wilbur Smith book

They all get a photo calendar of our DD’s too.
