...Imagine you have to buy all your Christmas presents from the shop closest to your home or work. What would everyone be getting?

Home: it's a Spar shop, so booze for the grown ups and a sweet and chocolate mountain for the kids

Work: there's a hairdressers on one side of the road so vouchers for the adults or shampoo gift sets, not sure what my bald Dad and FIL would make of that...the other side of the road is a kind of camera/electronic retailer so hopefully they would have something for the kids (never actually been in Grin)

How about you all?

Bakery. They do lots of beautiful festive treats so it would actually be easy to shop for everyone there. Also gift vouchers. Why didn’t I think of this before?

Home: corner shop, or kebab shop... so beans/bread or a donner 😂😂

Work: gin bar. If that counts?!

The proverbial petrol station Grin.

So, Ferrero Rocher and De-icer from me!

The DC would each get a magazine and a packet of ginger nuts.

I'm kicking myself a bit.
I could have done this each year, let e-m save up for a full stairs and landing. Spindles of advent.

My closest actual proper shop (ie not a takeaway or weird massage parlour) is a massive Sainsbury’s, so think I’d be ok Grin

Alanamackree · 11/12/2018 17:39

Petrol station.
So my lot are getting in-car chargers, car wash tokens and scratch cards.

BeaLola · 11/12/2018 18:42

I live in a small village. Nearest shop is a petrol station with a M&S attached - so good news for those that like flowers, wine, champagne and chocolate ….

bad news for my 11 year old as apart from the chocolate he would be stuffed …

at work - depends which direction I walk .. either a jewellers - again bad luck for DS but my sort of SIL would be okay or an art framers so I would be ok !

My nearest at home is a tired-looking corner shop with random opening hours, so I might not be too lucky. Almost as close, but not quite, are Tesco Express and Aldi. The latter's aisle of wonder should see me right.

At work we don't have many shops as it's an industrial estate (called a business park, but it's more industrial estate to me!). There is a fancy deli though, so cheese, cured meats, biscuits and chocolates all round.

MagicKeysToAsda · 11/12/2018 19:04

Home: pet shop, so hamsters or dog chews all round...or tanning shop on the other side (maybe not).

Work: wagamamas. Noodletastic.
